Wow, I didn't even know about the Susan Voelz album, so thank you for mentioning it. Her performances with Alejandro Escovedo are some of the most moving I've ever seen.

Dwight's "Purple Rain" doesn't work so well for me, but the Dixie Chicks' "Nothing Compares 2 U" was decent. I think my favorite countryish cover of Prince is the Gear Daddies' version of "Little Red Corvette," though I also think the Derailers' Buck Owens-esque version of "Raspberry Beret" is a lot of fun.

So it's better for people to not to be aware of his music at all (even in cover form) than for them to hear a shaky cover that might possibly pique their interest to check out the original? Exactly! Hearing a butchered cover of a Prince song might encourage people to seek out and listen to the original (and most likely) superior original Prince version.

I probably won't because I am expecting cringeworthy moments...not necessarily where the talent is concerned but more for the way they promote the same f'ing songs of Prince's as if he died in 1989 and for the phoniness . But interesting, Sheila E will be on the show as well as Nick Jonas (and presumably the NPG ex members who backed him.) .

Sheila E often talks about being famous before Prince and his equal but damn does she rely on her connection to PRince for a lot of high profile gigs. I would like to think it was out of "love". But Prince associates throw around the world "Love" like its useless confetti
