Police photos make a mockery of Paisley Tours!

Am I the only one who feels, having done the VIP tour of Paisley Park, that the extensive police photographs of Paisley make a mockery of the Paisley Park Tour? To my mind it exposes a lot of lies from the setup, surroundings and the guide.

I do understand that the Graceland guys have to tidy the place up and get it looking presentable. It can't look lived in, messy and desolate as it does in the photos.

But... for example… statements from the guide regarding his office are simply not true. As part of the VIP tour you are taken to ‘Prince’s office’ downstairs near the stairs past the atrium. The guide states the office is just as Prince left it.

Well… 1) It wasn’t his office at all. At least not for sometime according to Judith Hill’s report. It was the small room with piano upstairs. 2) It wasn’t left in the condition you see it. The photos clearly show it vastly different. Once again, i know they have to tidy… but it is now all so staged and false.

For me the editing room we saw, near his ‘false office’ is also very different now.

On the tour we were told Studio A was left just as he had it… he was working on something in the isolation booth with bass guitar, lyric stand and coffee cup. These aren’t even there in the evidence photos.

Once again i do understand they have to setup certain things. But at least tell the people parting with $100 that these rooms are setup how they ‘may’ have been. Or how they were when Paisley was in full swing.

I feel a little hoodwinked.

If you like there are pictures of Prince's (used) Calvin Kleins underwear in the laundry basket.

Serious.

How do we know he didn’t have more than one office? How many people were ever even upstairs? If we’re to believe Joel and the Graceland folks pretty much everything they did was based on instructions Prince left (mostly e-mail).

So then the lyrics to “Stay Cool” which we worked so hard to decipher weren’t really left on his music stand?
They said his “coffee cup” was there? I don’t think Prince drank coffee.

The people at Caribou said he would come in all the time. They said his favorite was an iced chocolate coffee drink. Lala also said in a post on IG that she and Prince went there often.I can't believe PP actually staged the lyric sheet.

I think what the OP is saying, is that PP should just get on with the tour. Don't push it with the "left as is" stuff.

I got what the OP was saying. What I don't get is people whining over something so trivial. Is s/he suggesting that someone had said, "We staged all of this to make it look like Prince just left a couple minutes ago," s/he wouldn't have gone - or would have taken a low-rent tour instead? Please.

I've thought he wouldn't have drank coffee either but i've heard a few stories of him going to the local coffee shops. Susan Rogers I think said that he didn't drink coffee when she worked with him because he didn't like the jitters.

Actually, it was pretty obvious you didn't get the OP's point. I can tell because your very next sentence continues to ask for clarity. Again, refer to my response. Also, the OP made pains to make sure they weren't coming across as whiny.

I wouldn't say it was "vastly" different. I'm just glad they have it open for people to experience. Now that anyone who cares to look at the photos from the investigation will see how the upstairs was, I think they should convert some of those rooms to more themed rooms. At the rate their changing items on display, it will take forever to see it all.

Yes I’ve heard some stories too.
I was thinking of the radio interview with Damaris where he said encouragingly, “No...you don’t drink coffee.”
Coffee is a drug and I think he saw it as something that gets in the way.
But maybe he drank it sometimes.
He also said once, “It’s easy to drink a lot of coffee and then say you feel good.”
VERY wise man. Coffee alters moods and blocks us from being clear.

I am inclined to agree with you. My wife and I was thinking about going again for the new VIP 3 hour tour however; after viewing all those police pictures and knowing how the place was indeed left prior to his transition - I feel as though I was mislead or provided a false narrative on how things were left. I mean, we are still going to support Prince and Paisley Park nonetheless I have to obliterate those police photos from my memory data bank prior to going back.

That Australian interview Prince asks Damaris if she’s been drinking coffee (probably because it was early in the morning and he sounded like he was half asleep while she sounded very perky), to which she replied she hadn’t but she thought he was going to say alcohol. Then Prince responded no, you don’t drink to which Damaris replied sometimes I like wine.

He drank coffee and tea.

One of his more expensive coffees was a Jamaican Blue Mountain roast. He mentioned it in the late 90s.

And he would sometimes get a coffee at Caribou.

It's true they moved things around a bit, but to be fair to them, most looks the same.

Regards the office, he clearly used two. The upstairs yellow one seems to be for general personal time, whilst the downstairs gold one on the tour, seemed like his business office. He was obviously using it, as the new purple guitar is in there on the 21st pics, and the couriers deliveries seem to get put there. Yes, the estate look like they cleaned it up a bit, but most of the stuff, on his desk looked the same, minus any cash, CD's memory sticks etc. They can't leave those out on a tour.

The 'Stay cool' lyrics thing seems a little odd, but they could be the sheets in the piano in Studio A.

One thing I did notice; on the tour they made a point in his gold 'official office' to mention that his travel case was open, by his desk like the day he died.

The travel case was not their on the 21st, but you can see it, open and looking the same, in the outer black room to his real green bedroom. They obviously moved it to the office. I don't think its sinister, and maybe they wanted people to see it, but its a little misleading.

Ha haaa... you fool.

I think I made it quite clear (several times) that I expect them to clear up and set things up a bit.

It’s the stories the guides are telling people that are misleading. Just be honest. Leave out the “it was left just like this” speech and let us know things have been moved.

I was told Prince only had one office and it was downstairs. It’s no real biggie... it’s just not honest.

Oh and by coffee cup... I meant just a cup. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate... who cares.

As for the OP, I kinda thought the same thing as I looked through the photos. Especially with regard to the office that they are showing on the tour. As noted, it has not simply been tidied up, things have been introduced that weren't there on 4/21. So yes, it is dishonest to say it is "just like it was."
