Yep. He rolled up in a limo in front of Book Soup in West Hollywood across the street from Tower Records. He and Carmen Electra (and bodyguard) got out and he walked up and stood right next to me while I was looking at Billboard checking where his latest single (pretty sure it was "The Morning Papers") was on the charts that week. I kid you not. The coincidence is startling. It was the peak of my fandom. He stood there for a moment and pointed at a magazine. His bodyguard grabbed the magazine for him and then he went inside. It was surreal. He wasn't in there long and everyone left him alone. They rushed out and hopped into the limo and were gone.

The closest I've come to was at Paisley Park a few minutes before he went on stage in the L41A room. It was November 2015, a warm up for the Piano and a Microphone shows. We were seated up front but on the far right of the stage, not the best seats, but the only seats that let us see him standing next to the stage (left) for about 5 minutes before he went on. I wrote about it on my blog. He looked very restless and happy, almost giddy, he was talking with Kirk and pacing and some dancing to the house music that was being played. I remember my wife, who respects him but definitely wouldn't call herself a fan, said, "He's so tiny. And so damn cool!" He just exuded confidence and command. One of my favorite memories at Paisley Park.

I didn't but I could had. During Prince's "Triple Threat (1999) tour" Prince was at Lefty's Party Store on Scafer in Detroit, MI. It's a good thing I didn't sneak to the store, because my mother was there. She met Prince, she said she got a hug from him, and did bring home a autograph that said, "2 a Loyal friend" Prince".My mother also mentioned how Prince was checking out her high heeled blue swade indian boots. lol, kind of funny when I think about it all these years later. I also remember around about this same time Prince had a contest for tickets to the show and his hat from the Automatic video, on a dance show called "The Scene" in Detroit. RIP to both, my Mother and Prince.

PS, I would meet Prince myself years later during a after party for the Newpowersoul fest tour, by kind of sneaking into the VIP section at St. Andrews Hall. I also snuck a pic I posted here before. For those that haven't seen it here: https://imgur.com/btABc00

Great pic!

Thanks for posting.

Thanx! smile
