Prince song in a deleted scene for a "Friday the 13th" movie

So I've been on a Friday the 13th movie marathon lately and last night I made it part 8 which is "Jason Takes Manhattan".So I watched the movie and decided to check out the deleted scenes and in one scene you can see the actors dancing to Prince's song "U Got the Look"! which i thought was very cool. Thing is the same scene is in the movie but its shorter and is substituted with a different song by a different band.I'm guessing Prince didnt give them permission for the song. Kinda like when Kevin tried to use "Most beautiful girl in the world" in the "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"Movie

it can be seen at 0.37 in this video.its a gag reel but I assue U got the look was intended to be used

You assume wrong about the permission thing. People can't just put up a movie without an unauthorized song and we not hear about it in the news or the trades.

Private Parts is a good example of this. Sometimes songs are licensed exclusively for a movie's theatrical run. To have them on a home media (digital, bluray, etc), depending on the artist and royalty rates, can be very expensive. The artist or record company can vie for points on the DVD which takes money away from the movie company. This is even more evident with Private Parts. Songs in Private Parts were swapped out for that very reason. No doubt Jason Takes Manhattan had the same situation. It's a Paramount movie, which has no direct affiliation with Warner Bros. They're better off replacing the songs with either something from an associated artist to the parent company or something in the public domain (where they'd only have to pay artist performance royalties, opposed to that being coupled with writing royalties), or just cutting the scene and putting in some generic original music made just for home media.
