Yes please listen to Bart. Bart would ideally like around 3 threads per month. Basically if it's something Bart already knows please dont post it. Also please bear in mind Bart is not a fan, he just simply has spent thousands of hours researching something he has little interest in.

Oh look, a bunch of made up shite posted by someone who of course couldn't even be arsed to read what I replied to.

.

And for the record, I've often stated that the Org is outdated in much of its functionality, and that we really should have a section where relevant news is permanently on offer, e.g. upcoming or recently released books etc.

Bart VanHemelen seems like such a compelling, ornery, straight shooting, tactless, arrogant, cantankerous, humorless, intelligent, elitist...i cant help but to sometimes read his comments out loud with an exaggerated British accent, imagining he would look like Anthony Hopkins, or Eddie Murphy's butler in 'Trading Places'...no disrespect, of course

Hilarious...i've said and thought it many times. What torture for Bart that he must spend so many hours on the site despite not loving the man. How pathetic. You can bet Bart is a 4'10", hundred pounder who no one would ever notice if he was standing in front of your face.

Bart may be abrupt, but he's rarely wrong. If he was just like me there would be no need for both of us. Celebrate diversity.

lol

.

The Org runs on a hacky version of old forum software, lacking many of the features similar software has acquired in the past decades.

.

That's the result of Prince waging war on fansites. He could have had some great ones because there used to be plenty of talented programmers in the community, but no sane person would invest their own time and money into something that would be attacked constantly for the pettiest of reasons.

.

Why do you think HQ shut down? Why do you think all Prince fanmags shut down? Etc etc etc.

.

I bet that we could have created the kind of software that would power numerous fansites, with regular upgrades etc. Instead we're stuck with the Org and a bunch of Facebook groups.

Exactly.

I for one can't write and APP, but it would be great to have a .ORG APP for instance.

I follow that 'bunch of facebook groups' and 'instagram groups', and it sure consumes a lot of time.

It's not easy to read .ORG on my iphone (8). Although it adjustes automatically.

-

I so miss Housquake ! It was such a great site...

Prince's war on fansites is something easily forgotten b many, but it sure sucked. ANd look indeed, what is left now.

racist?..."Racism" is the belief in the superiority of one race over another, which often results in discrimination...how the hell is me reading Bart's comments with a British accent, racist?...you do know they have dictionaries online and in libraries and homes around the world, that can help you understand the meanings of different words...

-

Me for one, I love Bart's 'tone' and wicked smartass behaviour.

His sharp tongue and utter critical comment is timeless, and needed here to kill the unbearable softness of some. Diversity is absolutely needed and deseves respect. Take it or leave it.

All other nay sayers and haters also need a platform.

-

Bart's rightful dislike for the super badly organised Prince/camp is the kind of word we absolutely need too. He's always kicking it in (your) face of how badly Prince's shit was put together.

One thing though, all artists are 'different'. And I can name a few artist who are as badly organised as Prince, as well as the opposite of course.

Bart apparently loves it well organised, well informed, well demonstrated and well documented. All things preferably 'correct'. I love that. I'm far from 'correct' myself. So I appreciate that in others, no matter what impossible character they have, or their style is.

Take people the way they are, read their manual, observe, and then act towards it.

Don't ever try to change anyone.

-

To compare Prince's output for instance with that of other artists like Bart often states, is maybe unneeded, though it might tell a lot about one's own frustrations.

Every other artist was uncomparable to Prince's prolific ambitious bahaviour and output. They possibly worked better with their record companies, listened more to (good) advice, or felt the sign of the times much better, and anticipated towards the demand of it. Moneywise, they possibly too did better, or gave the fans what they asked for, but was that better then ? No one ever surprised his fans more than Prince did in a fraction of his lifetime. I mean like aftershows ? Are there other artists who did this ?

-

Imagine if we had tons of official released DVDs, etc from Prince collaborations with other great artists (what I always wanted him to do). Would it really be better ? Think of it... Maybe. Very maybe.

That means that we wouldn't have all the released stuff we're spoiled with. OK, some shit albums were not needed to be released for some, but hey, they're there. And it gives an overall view on the guy's carreer in a way that is not to compare with anyone out there of his calibre (ie Madonna, U2 or Bruce Springsteen, or Michael Jackson).

We never would've had 'Lovesexy', or 'Dirty Mind', or the underwear on stage, or the SOTT movie, or... basically everything. He did it his 'wrong' way, against the stream most of the time. Sometimes good choices, sometimes deadwrong decisions. He loved being a contrarian. It even seems that he loved to be worked against. The comprehensive frustrating part with Prince was that he never ever wanted to listen to anyone. And the ones giving him good advice found out too late that it didn't even matter, and left, or were sacked if they came too close.

-

Let it and him be in the death that will arrive upon us all one day.

I think we've confused diversity with rudeness.
The problem isn't Barts ceaseless, relentless negativity it's simple the way he expresses it, getting angry with people asking questions, saying for crying out loud every 3 seconds. There is a way to be a person.

If you don't like Bart's opinion or someone else's, don't read it.

Simple.

Don't waste your time on commenting on it.

And for your information, ignoring is far better than emotionally or histerically replying.

-

Make the world, the org and yourself a better place.

Do the right thing, or try to grow up.

Unfortunately on a forum like this the only option is basically to stay or go. You can't not see someone's comment in a post. I also think you've mistaken someone having a different opinions which is fine and just being rude and constantly shouting people down.
