At the diamonds a curlz address? Not sure if she would even see it, probably just someone else who is working with her. Even if she did see my email, it probably wouldn't do any good.

Go post on her FB page lol

don't make no goddamn sense selling the man's socks, how did she get them? and doesn't she care how bad it makes her look? my old mentor, who i've mentioned many times here, was Bruce Lee's best friend, he never did try to sell out bruce until the last couple years, he sold the track suit that bruce wore in game of death, old fool didn't even get a good deal, he sold it for 10,000 and the thing was auctioned off for 100,000. It hurt me to see it happen in any event. can't trust no one.

Sure makes me think a bit differently about Kim knowing she’s selling clothing and other stuff Prince gave her. It was a lot of stuff too.

Why? I’m sure Shelby J. and others aren’t making the $$ they did while working with Prince but you don’t see them giving memorabilia to be auctioned off unless it’s maybe for charity. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I still wanna know some more about the book. I mean com'on now not only don't we know what kind of writer she is but us less savvy non-Facebook user can get lost or discouraged when we gotta sign up for stuff we don't want to be tied to.

like I hit the link and a email comes up, am i supposed to ask where to send money, do i get on some list, am i supposed to sign up for paypal. What dates are we looking at? I'm not going to make it to MN this month so the rest of that stuff does me no good.

I'm with you there. People bitched when Prince kept having ever changing methods of obtaining his albums, I was one of them. A huge percentage of us simply aren't jumping on board to the latest tech trend, it isn't useful to us in our daily lives. Need more precise, even step-by-step info maybe, if this is going to be the only way of getting the book.

More details and a sample of writing required here.

Anyone can self-publish a book using Print On Demand now and many of these are poorly edited with little to no proofreading.

If a reputable publisher isn't involved it all rests on the authors credentials. Selling Prince's socks and handkerchiefs is not exactly a sign of integrity.

If can't take time to set up a kickstarter etc why would I buy this book? I like Kim, her stories are always good but just needs to have this set up better than sending to paypal email. I'll wait for more info.

To be clear I’m not opposed to new technology (I read most books on my iPad) but I’d need to know more about this book before I buy it. Like a summary, number of pages, book publisher etc. Even if she’s not going through a big well-known publisher how about spin up a website with more information and a way to place an order for the book. Sending PayPal to a Gmail account seems weird.

Based on all the interviews with Kim that I’ve listened to I don’t believe she would be one to steal anything from Prince. But it doesn’t sit well with me that she would auction this stuff off. Not cool.

maybe she didn't "steal" but maybe she did confiscate something that was left behind, or maybe something that he was supposed to use. I don't see the point of Prince gifting some funky socks, who the hell would want that? Maybe some of the wierder people here would.

I'm not opposed to new tech either, but it doesn't mean I've ran out and gotten it. I think sometimes people need to be reminded that just because they saw lines around the block at the Apple stores doesn't mean everybody and their mama wants it. Everything isn't useful to everybody, period. It is what it is. Personally, I'm not bothered that she wants to sell Prince stuff, but guess what, just because I'm not bothered by it doesn't mean I want it. But I am interested in her book, she has come across like an interesting person even if everything in it isn't about him, some hair tips would definitely be welcome, I'm cool with it, but I'd like a heads up on what to expect. I really don't know her beyond a handful of interviews.

I know while black people get their hair done. They reveal their most deepest and, intimate secrets about themselves and EVERYONE else. They value their hair more than any other race, so it opens up the floodgates. Barbershops and beauty salons are the place gossip is made for in that community.

So I know this book will be JUICY!

Kim seems to be a genuine person...the real deal. I don't think she would do anything to shade her late friend, Prince. She loved him like a brother!!

.

Imagine just graduating from Beauty School and having the opportunity to be Prince's hairstylist!! lol

.

I found this interview she did recently. She starts talking about how she started to work for Prince at 22:00. She cracks me up the way she tells a story! That gurl can talk!! LOL lol

I've briefly spoken to Kim on a couple of occasions and she seems as genuine as they come. A true lady.

She's certainly no 'vulture', and compared to many, she has real story to tell. I get that some fans might not like that sort or intimacy shared, but personally, I think that's up to each individual.

Is it any different to Paisley Park letting Prince's make-up kit and disclosed habits go on tour on the 'My Name Is Prince' exibition?

To date, those that have 'broken rank' has not blatantly chased the gossip dollar and I don't think Kim would for a second.

Regardless, the title is fucking genius!

i'm sure she is, i've heard the interviews and they are great and revealing about the man Prince was. I'm not questioning her heart I'm just doubting the integrity but then, maybe I have too high of standards. My mentor, who I mentioned, did sell out Bruce Lee as far as I'm concerned but he was the last of Bruce's circle to do so. Still, what you do in the end is what you meant to do the whole time, i don't like it. I would never do that, i say that with near 100 percent certainty, i never gave money that kind of power over my actions though (and I've paid hell for it which is how I know what I would do).

I had to admit that I was disappointed in the socks. why would Prince give her socks as mementos?? that is weird. Plus if he intended them as mementos for Kim (and wasn't just giving them away in an almost mindless way) than he intended her to keep them to remember him by, not to sell. HOw did she get the ear cuff things, he seemed to love those and wore them for years.

I haven't bought any of the books put out in the last 2 years, not that I'm not curious but it just doesn't feel right for me. When I want to understand Prince I'll sit & Google his song lyrics... for me that is where his truth is.

i could see prince relaxing and leaving a few things like anyone else does when they are around a place enough. what should she have done? even if she didn't actually "steal" them? not sell them, that much i know. maybe give them to the museum.

Sockgate.

I doubt Prince would gift his socks to anyone. Perhaps she borrowed them? Her feet were cold one day and her and P wore the same sock size, maybe she tried to give them back (unwashed or washed..u decide) and he declined. However she acquired them the fact that shes selling them tells me that she is not a person to ever lend your socks to.
Baby, you're a star.

Yeah, she didn't choose her words very carefully in that interview. The FB Q&A I watched with her yesterday was pretty good. She did say that some things she is saving for the book, when asked if he spoke to her about Vanity/Denise.She then revealed that he did and that all of that would be in there. She spoke very highly of him in the Q&A.
