Madison Square Garden 1986-08-03

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced!

you know, despite parade being my favorite prince album, i've never been able to get into the shows
from the tour. it all just sounds so cluttered and too fast. but i'll give it another go i guess.

This one is representative of the tour. If you don't dig the show from other boots you probably still won't.

yup, still the same for me, i'm skipping through it now. i don't know exactly what it is.

it's also wendy and lisa. i've always loved their contributions and presence on prince's
albums. but in the live shows they bother me. i'm just not a fan, let's put it like that.

in fact, compared to prince's post 1992 live output, i like his revolution concerts about
30% compared to all his other bands.

but that's another thread. i'm sure enough people are already sharpening their knives lol

but, beyond the bitching, it IS fucking great that stuff like this still pops up.

with hardly any notice.

Thanks 2 U (U know who U R)! Sound is indeed verry good. I'm quite sure that the first night at MSG exists in full sequence...

I hate to get some bootlegs cut (by intention?): I listened 2day the Noon Rendezous. Why is 17 days cut!!!! Last song is Possessed?

This new boot is great! Crystal clear!!

It appears that Prince recorded every single rehearsal, sound check, and
show and after show. Every single one.

Can you imagine the stuff that’s out there ready to release right now???

The mind boggles.

That was the concert that i went to when
Prince left early..
People were throwing stuff at him drawing
SISIA... During PR a young blond woman
jumped on stage..

Prince said “ iguess this is what love is
all about”..
He gave a signal to Wendy & ended it without
Doing “ kiss” or “ Mountains”

I fully agree!

What a powerful show!

My personal highlights:

"A Love Bizarre": so fresh sounding!

The "Purple Rain"-guitar solo: just cool!

I love the taste of unpredictable leaks.

Has it never occured to you that the people who shared it were sharing all they had of that recording? You automatically assume that they kept something back because more of another recording was let loose?

If it wasn't for those mother fuckers, you wouldn't have the treasures you do have.

Someone leaked this from their collection and shared it for FREE. Insulting them and complaining is a good way to encourage them to not do so in the future. Just sayin'... jerkoff

But that Paris show a soft spot 8n my heart and it was one of my first pressed cds back in the early 90s

I get that, it's the same complaint lots of people have about Livesexy; too many snippets, no time to get into things. But the difference is, there was an official video release for Livesexy, so in that way, the audio made sense more.

I bet that once The Estate wakes up, a video release of the 1986 tour will be high on their 'most requested'-list.

To me, personally, this tour was the first I saw Prince live. And it made an impact. The show is meant to be seen and indeed suffers from it's 'audio only' treatment.

I think both this 86 show and the leaked 83 show are amazing to have in such quality, but as a whole, they do not tickle me much, as both shows are rather formulaic. Which is also the case with some of his most admired tours, but somehow he was able to make it sound more exciting, musically.
