A version with just his vocals may exist. He put a clip on IG of him singing one of Andy's verses. It was rumored there was an extended version also.

I'd love the opportunity to hear all the sessions, alternate and extended versions and outtakes for 'AOA'.

The kind of experience a new incarnation of the NPGMC would be ideal for.

His performance of Time for the Piano Mic shows was beautiful.

the AOA version is PERFECT just the way it is...if anything, the coda should be about 90 seconds longer...i LOVE the last 40 seconds of that song..it gives me chills...the synths and rhythm guitar and P adlibbing at the end, is EVERYTHING...that couldve went on longer...but the song is P at his best, even at 55 he clearly still had IT .

Yeah, who wants to get Andy out of this?
She's reciting the whole album as a closure, what's not to like?
What's with these "oh-its-gotta-be-Prince-on-the-vocals-on-every-song" integrists?

biggrin

I like her on the song too but I think it would be nice to have a version with just Prince. It sounds like he was singing along to a guide track in his IG post and I believe he said that it was live if I recall.Maybe he was planning on recording another version or was just rehearsing it for the P&M shows.

My thoughts also. Even though the song is about 7 mins long I want those synth horns and ad-libs near the end to carry on. One of his best tracks in recent years IMO

I like the way Andy ad-libs bits of Breakdown and This Is What It Feels Like and the bass solo is cool. Would have been interesting to hear him do it live with the band he put together with MonoNeon, going off the small live clip he put on Instagram.

I can totally picture him doing the funk face with Ida
as they play four hands on an extended live jam of it.

You do understand, though, that the song is a phone conversation between Prince and Andy. That's the whole reason it starts with the phone dialing and ends with the phone hanging up. The whole point of the song is that it's two people talking. Having just a Prince version would change the whole theme of the track.

Yeah but I'd still like to hear a solo version such as the clip he put on IG.He sang that line with such conviction! He ended the performance of it at the show in Sydney as if he had been talking with someone on the phone the whole time.Andy talked about the recording of it in an interview with Funkatopia radio after AOA was released and she said that Prince actually called someone up during the recording. She said she didn't remember who it was that he called and that she was unsure that the listeners would get that he was supposed to be calling someone and the song was supposed to be their conversation. She said he also lit a match at the start of the song which is the crackling sound that you hear. www.funkatopia.com/funk-n...adio-show/

Question is: who lights up a big one?
Does Andy get high while Prince is thinking "big candle"?
I keep hearing "joint", it's the paper burning sound right after, it's suspicious.
Now THAT deserves serious investigation.
I'm probably self-projecting,
but "Clouds" is another puzzling title.

my wife is also convinced P is lighting up something to smoke, at the start of "Time"...and she too thinks "Clouds" might be some type of anti-weed smoke public service announcement... who knows? .. maybe P had started to smoke herbs to get some relief from whatever chronic illness he may have been dealing with...many AIDS and Cancer patients smoke cannabis regularly to deal with nausea, chemo- side effects, loss of appetite, etc.

Listen to the wife, pal.

Although I wish Prince had rather smoked pot like George Clinton,
instead of taking these fucking pills. It's still a controversial song,
with the "suspended animation" bit,
which is clearly a "high" point of the song.

"We're getting on something high that doesn't require clouds."
Well, speaking for myself, clouds are the highest limit I know
before getting out of oxygen. So whatever that "something" may be, I'll pass, grassias.
ìf he truly meant dismembering GAFA, then count me in, except I wouldn't know where to begin.

Love the inner monologue, couples lyrical dance and the sexual humor- combined with that wicked bass.
