I know lots of people who have a high education, multiple degree's and PhD., and some of them are not so nice, jerks, liars, posers, users, don't work hard and earn a 6-figure salary, cheat on their wives....I could go on and on. My husband worked with a guy who had PhD and didn't do shit for his 6-figure salary--and even slept on the job! I have no respect for people like that.

.

I am not saying Van Jones is any of those, but he is well-known, and is not treated like the average Joe.

Sone of the most spiritual kind and healthy people I know have no HS Diplona and basuc things like spelling is not their strong suit.

Once again it was said he seems "well read" when it it obvious he is more then a little well read and certainly had plenty of accomplishments before he met Prince which is more then I can say for many of the associaties who some of you have no problem with them running their mouths about Prince.

It doesn't matter if he graduated from Havard, Yale or Princeton. A lot of people have academic achievements, but that doesn't necessarily make them "good people".

The comment was that he was not well read. Still not one person has explained what Van done. Did he kill someone? Prince sought him out not the other way around.

.

I don't think Lonnie ever killed anyone, but would you describe him as a nice person? confused

What book was he promoting? Because I watched his interviews in April and he was not promoting a book. He has a book out now that has one Chapter on Prince.

What book are you talking about? So what he was talking about his friend/employer like loads of other people.

I think Van Jones spoke beautiful, loving words in this video. Moreover, I think Prince would have been very pleased with this tribute to him. Did you post it to buttress your contention that Jones is somehow "creepy" or "opportunistic"?

just 1 example of what people dont like about Van Jones (from Youtube comments in the linked video):

wendileona1 year ago

Van Jones has positioned himself as a "spokesperson" for Prince's legacy and USE Prince's legacy and music to shape Prince into some hero for leftist, communist, anti-American movements and causes. Prince was actually a conservative for most of his life and you can hear evidence of this in Prince's songs, many of them, even the TIME was a band that was right wing and created to empower Black Americans to truth-think themselves into making something of themselves. Van Jones is taking OVER Prince's legacy for his own gain and to take over popular culture heroes and convert them into supporters of socialist, communist agendas. All with the help of the Corrupt News Network, working on revising Prince's history through the HLN documentary. Disgusting. .::Modernaire

Yes, Prince supported Reagan and...well, let's face it, Vanity 6 could hardly be described as progressive...

It is my understanding that Prince says he was misquoted in the infamous statement attributed to him about Reagan in the 1980's. And, if he did actually say it, I'd bet good money that, as his political understanding grew, he came to know that Ronnie was no prince. Plus, he was racist...and, well, Prince was Black.

Just seems to me that Van likes to boast about his relationship with Prince and all the causes he supported, which Van Jones manages. I understand trying to bring awareness to a good cause, but Prince being gone probably has a great impact on these programs he was running.

No, I did not post the YouTube video to prove Van Jones is "creepy" (for the record, I never said that). Yes, I do feel he is an "opportunist".

.

Laura was asking me, thus I posted the video. They are all over YouTube, if you want to research it. He did interviews on HLN, CNN, Live with Kelly, Wendy.....and other's.

I saw that quote on several of Van Jones's video's. It's clear that this person is not in favor of what he is doing.

IM the one that said Van Jones "gives me the creeps"...and i stand by my statement and i feel no need to quantify it... it is what it is... everybody aint for everybody... i could be wrong, i might be right...but the general public didnt know Van Jones from Van McCoy, b4 Prince died... i never heard P mention, introduce, or acknowledge this man in any way shape or form...Van Jones just showed up with the rest of the "former drug dealers" and "former girlfriends" and "former Paisley Park employees", that stayed on TV after 4/21/16 blabbing about their aquaintances with P... other than a brief episode on The View, has anyone seen a photo of Van Jones and P in the same room together?...or are they quick to believe him because he's a well spoken black man in a suit and nerd glasses, with advanced degrees?...

There you go mentioning race again. I'm getting the impression that you don't like Van Jones because he's a rich, well-educated Black man...who was close to Prince.

BTW, at the time of Prince's passing, Jones was already a CNN correspondent, which is why he was called in to talk about his friend. Previously, he was a part of the Obama White House, during which time he made frequent media appearances on the news circuit. This is how he came to Prince's attention, leading him to seek him (Van) out. And, it's a good thing that he did, seeing as how it was Van who connected him to Phaedra Ellis-Lampkins, who was able to finally help P win ownership of his masters.

Van Jones claims that Prince got in touch with him after he lost his job at the White House. Then, he got Prince on-board with a lot of charities he set-up and was involved with. Van Jones does speak very highly of Prince, but you almost have to wonder if the guy has some ulterior motives.

Just because you're a Black man, if that is indeed the case, that doesn't mean that you don't harbor resentment against other Black men. There are LOTS of self-hating Black people.
