Songs dont do it (though "breakdown" gets close), but it didint really hit me that he was gone until the full page ad that Chevrolet took out in the NY times.

The 63 split window candy-apple from the back and the caption :

1958-2016

"Baby that's much too fast."

Broke me right down.

Unexpectedly, this morning. I was half-awake making coffee. When Doves Cry was running through my head and it got stuck on repeat at - An ocean of violets in bloom. I saw/felt an ocean of violets in my minds eye and thought about Prince writing that beautiful line. Tears welled up out of the blue.
