Clue to special edition release?

Hello all

Long time lurker etc...

Probably nothing but i notice that there is a sale of all WB prince albums in the US itunes store($4.99) with the exception of Parade and the original Purple Rain. Could it be they don't want potential SE sales to be affected?? Again probably nothing.

Would have posted on the relevant thread but appears to have vanished!

The would suggest a Parade SE could be on the horizon.

I heard a rumor (don’t remember where) that Parade is next on the “deluxe” list.

The word is that 1999 Deluxe is due this year, but yeah - Parade after that. Both are keeping my body ready! lol

I wonder when they are planning to release it smile It's probably either April or during the summer

I’m not sure one release per year is going to cut it for me... they better get their act together and get all that music rolling!

Yes for sure! They need a plan and a propper commited shedule.

David Dowie had a plan and at least his fans are being flooded with constant releases.

if they handled them 3 a year, that would be perfect, space them out over 4 months
between releases for the next 4 years or so.

and allow the estate to release whatever they want to form his later material.

but that's probably wishful thinking.

That would be a fairly good pace of release. Also, it would give the estate plenty of time to get the 'minor' releases sorted, the ones that only completists would need. They could also alternate between deluxe editions, live recordings and 'other' - things like The Flesh, or protegé albums with Prince's vocals...

the best thing would probably be if they had their own site where new stuff would pop up all
the time for download and if you wanted to you could buy limited cd releases of those. those
type of releases, like madhouse/flesh stuff and other unreleased albums etc and live stuff is
probably only going to attract hardcore fans anyway so they'd do well to set up a good place
and keep providing content regularly and in doing so gather up as many fans that are still
interested as possible.

prince could have built himself a huge cult folowing over the years if he'd just stuck to one
solid site with lots of new material being added all the time. someplace where he could've
had *ALL* his albums for sale, even if only as downloads, and kept all exclusive downloads
and releases 'in print'.

but whenever he had a good thing going he just shut it down in favor of something else. so
let's hope the family/estate will try to get as much in one place as possible and add to it all
the time from the vault.

but that makes too much sense, doesn't it? lol let's wait and see what warners does next.

Releasing a "1999" Deluxe without prefacing it with a "What Time Is It?" Deluxe and a "Vanity 6" Deluxe would be a dumb half-assed release like the "Purple Rain" "Deluxe"...
Even if you'd only hear Prince's "Jerk Out", which is a must on a "1999" Deluxe, which is honestly my most "why the fuck didn't he release this?!" moment in Prince's recording history, and then Morris Day's overdubbed vocals version on a "What A Time Is It?" Deluxe as an opening to a full fledged "1999" Deluxe explosive release, it will blow everyone's mind how amazing this period was in the history of recorded music...
So, no more half-assed releases and do this guy justice...

Yes... Between "Controversy" and "1999" there's a shit ton of demo's and unknown-to-the-public songtitles and Prince's versions of "Vanity 6" and "What Time Is It?" and their outtakes unknown to most...
Plus there are Linn Drum reworkings of older released and unreleased tracks...
And of course there are (a bit) longer or unedited/uncut versions of "Controversy" and "1999" tracks, but they're not more interesting, for example: a longer version of "Little Red Corvette" fades out about 20 seconds later than it does on the released LP version, the songs are just more trimmed down to fit the medium... There are a couple of unreleased single edits of songs...
This period is a treasure trove and far more interesting than the "Purple Rain" era...

Moonbeam Levels was already released. And I don't know how you compile a list like this without including the alternate, piano version of Something In The Water.
