lol well obviously I do.

I still appreciate her place in the purple continuum

I wouldn't want her name in a book like this to be associated with that

it looks really bad in the long run

Nothing she can say now can be any worst then what she said in the past.

Come on now she let the whole world know that she was happy to almost be a mistress.

yep

Yes I've been wondering what was up with Wax Poetics. As far as I know this is the first issue since the spring 2017 David Axelrod issue. I've got the first one they did on Prince.

I still think those couple of DJ mixes that came out off the back of Issue 50 way back in 2012 are some of the best I've heard. They contained stuff like Dance Electric and Roadhouse Garden. Anyone else remember what I'm talking about? I still listen to them now. 1 hour of non stop funk each

Are you talking about the Dam-Funk mix where he segued his version of "17 Days" between the songs? I think I know what you're talking about.

They already did a whole issue on Prince in 2015-2016 somewhere.

The Japanese issue nr is 21.

It's well expensive to ship this to the UK, but I bought this anyway.

Hopefully I will enjoy it whilst I am chowing down on Ramen noodles at the end of the month cuz I spent all my money on a silly magazine.
It's been too long since you've had your ass kicked properly:

More about this older japanese issue;

https://magpile.com/wax-poetics/Japan/21/

I bought it in Tokyo two years ago.

Don't speak japanese, but it's a very nice thing to have. Great pictures by the way.

Nice magazine.

Yes, I have it too, but I do't think it was a front to back issue, like this is supposed to be. I hope this one is really ALL Prince world info.

I'd love to have it but at almost 60 euro (including 23 euro shipping costs to The Netherlands, which -believe it or not- is the cheapest option) this is getting ridiculous.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

It's available on Amazon UK and Amazon Germany much cheaper including shipping costs but I've not heard great things about the quality of paper used for Amazon print on demand stuff.

Never mind. I just read thru the entire thread. Apparently it won't be for sale in any retail stores other than online. Bummer.

All early presale orders have been processed. Paperbacks are shipping out today. Hardcovers take a couple extra days and will likely ship within the next few days.

Received mine today. A cursory look reveals not much new in the way of photos. Seems organized chronologically from beginning of career through TGE.... I'm sure I'll have more to say upon a more in depth perusal...

I think, as far as Wax Poetics is concerned, it's all about the text--quality insight, interviews etc. Yes, it will have to look good but, sadly, any new document on Prince will need to reference an archive; and I'm sure most of the imagery is out there. As for stuff we haven't seen? Well, there's another archive, of course, but who knows if we'll get to see that in our lifetimes...

What's the paper quality like? I've heard not particularly great things about the kind of paper used for Print-On-Demand stuff from Amazon.

it's very high quality. Even the inside of the covers are printed with the flower motif from the purple rain album art... I'm a book collector. I have no complaints with the binding or printing. It seems high quality, cardstock cover, nice thick paper for the pages. Printed by lightning source in the USA.

I received mine in the mail a couple of days ago but did not realize it so I've just opened it today. It looks good like all the other Wax Poetic mags I've seen. I haven't had a chance to read through, but I am REALLY impressed by how it was mailed. It's in a cardboard "box" that's reminiscent of a vinyl cardboard mailer, but the box is larger and tougher to get into. My mag looks like it has never been touched! Absolutely no bends or creases.
