I was thinking about this earlier. In my opinion, some of his best outtakes come from this era. There could be a couple of discs of unreleased tracks that would be as good as anything he released. But would there be much that we don’t already have? I hope that An Honest Man is there, and I’ve read about a couple of songs from the era whose names I can’t remember and haven’t leaked yet. But is there a lot more? That’s the mixed blessing of having so many outtakes leaking recently, I guess!

outtakes. session tracks. outtakes. session tracks. outtakes. session tracks. outtakes.

did i mention outtakes yet?

i hope there's more beyond what we already know and have in almost perfect sounds
stuff like 'old friends 4 sale', 'all my dreams', 'others here with us'.

i guess they'll put 'come elektra tuesday' here too?

hoping for full versions of 'heaven' and 'go', as well as some unknown or unheard yet
songs like "stella and charles' etc.

but i need a full disc of outtakes with parade. it's his most amazing album and all of
the tracks from this era are stellar, to me. so the more studio tracks, the better smile

i'll take live shows, the more the better, but only after outtakes lol

On an outtake disk, I'd like to hear the earlier takes of those first four songs that were recorded together as they appear on the album. But as "Little Girl Wendy's Parade", and maybe without Clare's strings throughout. It was pretty great that a one-man band not only sat down to record every instrument on a song, but that he was doing 4 songs in a row, almost as a medley. He recorded all the drums in one shot, then all the bass, then guitar parts, then keyboards, etc. It's just fascinating stuff.

I think things from earlier configurations of the album should be there, of course. "Others Here With Us" is a given, as is his version of "Mia Bocca" (which was in the movie). "Old Friends 4 Sale" (with the personal lyrics and Clare's strings) should segue into "All My Dreams", as it did originally. There are plenty others that would belong on it all. Hell, even his takes on the Family's songs would be pretty awesome. Those versions of "High Fashion" and "Mutiny" with the bass, "Nothing Compares 2 U", "The Screams of Passion", and "Desire" all with Prince's vocals? Fuck yes, please!

As far as a live disk, I'd rather have a DVD than audio. The birthday show at Cobo Hall would be fantastic. Isn't there a First Avenue show from 1986, too? But there are so many great soundboards out there of various tour dates, I have no doubt the estate has an even better copy somewhere that might just need minor brushing up. The MTV performance would be nice to tack on a DVD.

But also please just clean up Parade's sound a bit. Don't compress it and take out the dynamics like they did with Purple Rain. Treat it right, and make brighter the colors black and white.

I didn’t realise that his version of Mia Bocca can be heard in the film (to be honest I find the film painful!). For me just Mia Bocca would justify the price!

Let me clarify: I want to hear his version of the song "Mia Bocca". "Mia Bocca" was in the movie in the tarot card sequence up to "Conga line, baby!". And since there are no vocals in the movie, it's still technically his version, as Jill's album wasn't out until after that.

We will get whatever they can find and throw together. Remember Universal said there was no cronology. Why do you think we got Rebirth of the Flesh in Rehearsal form. Prince probably didn’t even know what was where.

Yeah, Parade is one of the few Prince records with near audiophile sound quality. Him and Susan Rodgers really peaked with their recording methods at that time. They really don't need to do a thing to the sound, but I expect it will be eq'd and brickwalled to death as is the fashion in the 21st century.

My advice to all those thinking of getting the Parade box if it comes out is... still keep hold of your original copies.
It's been too long since you've had your ass kicked properly:

What what really be nice is to have the movie released with the CD.The color version with deleted scenes and alternate ending when Prince lives. That would be so nice

It’s just a bit of harmless fun in a slow period. I know that we’ll get what they can find / what they can be arsed to release. But since there’s not much to talk about right now...

Unless NPG Records will appoint someone really passionate about Prince to get a clue on what's acutally in the Vault, we might just dream on... PR „Deluxe“ was pathetic. It should and could have easily been a 6-disc-set, if not more. They could have named it "Super Deluxe" or used any other ridiculous standard-type-tag.

But wasn’t that release limited by not having access to the actual vault? My understanding was that is was all WBR, without involvement from the estate. I might be completely wrong though, it’s all such a mess that I gave up trying to make sense a while ago...

Absolutely not. Do not mess with the original albums. Include as much extra material as possible, but on a separate disc (or at the very list at the end of the disc, after SISIA). I don’t think any of the albums should be messed around with, but Parade in particular works perfectly from start to finish.

But the thing is, the Parade album already was messed around with. The evidence is right there above. The NPG Vandals did it. Furthermore, Parade (the non-vandal version) should never have omitted Mia Bocca or Alexa De Paris. Prince even said recently, he didn't always give the record company his best song.

Good list. I think Junk Music should be a part of this though, especially since it is in the movie Under the Cherry Moon.

And there are some other songs that were made for the album/movie not heard yet like God Is Everywhere

Mia Bocca should be on that list as well.

After PR deluxe I'm not getting my hopes up.
Would not be surprised if WB just give us a disc of hodgepodge and unrelated stuff, something like:

Old friends 4 sale
All my dreams
Wendy's parade
Go
Make your mama happy (amateurishly segued into sexual suicide)
Everybody wants what they don't got
Others here with us
I wonder u (prince vocals)

Unless NPG Records will appoint someone really passionate about Prince to get a clue on what's acutally in the Vault, we might just dream on... PR „Deluxe“ was pathetic. It should and could have easily been a 6-disc-set, if not more. They could have named it "Super Deluxe" or used any other ridiculous standard-type-tag.

But wasn’t that release limited by not having access to the actual vault? My understanding was that is was all WBR, without involvement from the estate. I might be completely wrong though, it’s all such a mess that I gave up trying to make sense a while ago...

You're right. it is a real mess. PR "Deluxe" hadn't been limited in its extension due to WB. My copy states: NPG Records under exclusive license to WB Records. As far as I'm informed, Prince himself had actually been involved in having put this release together. He might not have been entirely involved, but at least he must have had a clue on what had been in the vault.

I recently had the pleasure to talk to the „Vaultmeister“ of the Zappa Estate, who's actually using Iron Mountain as their temporary storage facility as well. Frank Zappa collected thousands of high quality multichannel-recordings of his concerts. Not all of them, but most of them, even those having been recorded in the digital age, need to be baked for them to be transfered to high resolution digital format or their contents will be lost forever. It will take many years for Prince's vault-tapes to be ready for release. Someone must at least catalogue them before anything could be done with them. The Zappas are doing it the way it's supposed to be done. But Frank had died in 1993. It's only now that they are putting out CD-boxes containing multiple discs from certain periods of his broad work. Same could happen to Prince's vault, I'm afraid.

I guess that WB would actually be happy to release any interesting vault-material by Prince, if the company had access to it. So far I haven't heard anthing about NPG having appointed someone trustworthy to get a clue of what's in there. The Zappa-Vaultmeister has been a passionate fan of Franks for ages….

Everything we are asking for is good lol I want all of it

Some of those I believe are ATWIAD and Jill Jones outtakes others were never connect to the Parade album I think there should be a general album call it Purple Music 1985 and put the stuff we don't have an album/project that it was knowingly intended for.

And please no Single edits...what was the point of that.

Also, there should be a point person/lobbyist from the fan community who conveys our wishes to the WB production team in an organized fashion...Militant?
