1983 Reports of Prince Death

Were there any reputable false reports or a death hoax conspiracy of Prince overdose death in 1983???

I recently remember people telling me they heard Prince overdosed or overdosed and died around 1983????? Supposedly radio stations were reporting this. This was about the time Prince starting gaining mainstream popularity with Little Red Corvette. Does anyone remember any Prince overdose reports or death rumore around 1982 or 1983. It's odd but this just came to my memory. Thanks.

I can't specifically recall them saying that it was an o.d., but yes, I saw a report on network news that P had died during this time period.

I don’t know how this rumor started, but I recall many fans wore their purple ‘1999’ tour T-shirts to school that Friday (the rumor had started a day before).

There are always death hoaxes for the popular celebs.
Of course, it could not be done secretly. But it's not secret! He died secretly and was replaced secretly! But you talk about it!
But it's a secret!
Does that make ANY sense?
People are just damned gullible.
That silliness in the link above, some here took seriously.
How embarrassing.

But the one common thread is Vanity (Denise Matthews). I remember they broke up in 1983. Could it be that she was his true love? As far a the body double argument, it seems plausible if you listen to his music. Prince's music radically changed after 1999 album. I wasn't expecting Purple Rain (Rock), or ATWIAD, or Parade.

His music had already radically changed by 1980. Dirty Mind sounds nothing like For You/Prince.

Just like 1999 shares very little with Dirty Mind.

So yeah... not a valid point imo.

from For You to 1999 the common demoninator was soul, funk music. Prince lost a lot of black, urban fans when he release PR, ATWIAD, and Parade. So yeah... His sound changed completely from his previous work - more commercial music, more mainstream rock and pop.

There is the crazy conspiracy theory that he died and was replaced with a double. I think that was supposed to have been some time in the 80's.

Yes, probably that same night. Big Chick probalby crushed poor little Prince, like Lennie did to his pet mouse in, Of Mice and Men. Probably. lol

You mean he was so heartbroken he killed himself? or forgot how to write music?

and an imposter wrote a "rock" song that old Prince could definitely never write and call I'm Yours or Why You Wanna Treat me So Bad or When You Were Mine or Little Red Corvette or Bambi? Is that what you mean?

and, just to be clear, you see no similarity or progression in the sound from 1999 to Purple Rain?

His sound did radically change, from album to album, but I don't think 1999-Purple Rain was one of the more radical changes.

I'd say Prince-Dirty Mind, and Purple Rain-ATWIAD were more radical. There are some common threads that 1999 and Purple Rain share, even though Purple Rain and had more guitars and was less R&B focused.

That rumor did make the rounds because I asked a friend who had moved away about their thoughts on Prince and his upcoming movie and he asked "Didn't he o.d.?"

BTW that MJ, James Brown, and Prince video is fake.

No! Oh, no no no. This must be a joke? Prince did not overdose on cocaine. This might had been made up by someone who was envy and jealous of him. I do not remember this at all.
