I really like the final studio version of "The Line" (its bootleg)

Great underrated song...only Prince could deconstruct the elements of Gospel music like this.

One I didn't see mentioned (granted, I just skimmed through, sorry if it was mentioned)

Beautiful, Loved & Blessed had lyrics straight out of the Bible.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

So many - tops for me Anna Stesia and that would totally go into HOLY River. It was all about anwsers and trying to recognize the feelings and questions of others. A truly great artist that connected with many in a spiritual way. I miss him so - and can not believe he has left this earth before me.

CAL3

This means the best of his directly religious-themed songs?

.

Any of the ones that aren't preachy, santimonious, and (worst of all) exclusionary.

.

In other words, most of the pre-JW ones: yay, post-conversion: nay.

.

Which ISN'T a diss against his faith or anyone who practices JWism. It's just that something like "The Cross" sounds welcoming to all - even the faithless (like me). And then he became (IMO!) too pointed and blunt and specific in the way he approached religion in song.

.

Best (IMO!): "Lovesexy" - the track, but also everything spiritual about the album. While it doesn't convince me that there's a God, Devil, etc it makes me feel something and think something while listening - it sounds like he's trying to spread POSITIVITY to the entire human race, not saying "Believe this specifically because my way is the only way and everyone should convert to my specific belief system."

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Interesting choices.....

"The Love We Make" is beautiful and grand. To me it's heavier than "The Cross". And that's why I think I prefer "The Cross".
