I've always found Prince and his bands to be super elegant, no matter the era. I've pretty surprised at all the comments above.

I'm not too fond of the renaissance or whatever look from the Purple Rain/Romance 1600 era, though, but it made sense in the neo romantic context of those years.

The picture on the second album's cover is also plain ridiculous IMHO, but again probably was acceptable in 1979.

The NPG between 1991-1996 style was all over the place too me That also happens to be the period I didn't care for Prince's look as well. Even though I do like most of Prince's Gold Experince look. I guess their style/look didn't make visual sense to me in connection 2 Prince.

I didn't even like the stage set from that time period. It was all too much. Visual noise.

I think it had something to do with 'erasing' himself. I remember reading something about that during the Gold era

The whole Egyptian era with The New Power Generation. I have a few pictures in my magazine of Prince from alomst 2 years ago. I swear Prince looked like someone else. He did not look like himself. made his hair look like an Egyptian man. The clothes that he wore was terible. Prince was looking like a fool back in the '90's. I know that Mayte Garcia had not mention she studied bully dancing, sword dancing. Prince would looking the sexy fly Prince! Not this craze looking hot mess of an artsist

Funny... this era is actually my favourite. Its a badass look that NOBODY else could have carried off, let alone wanted to try. The come album, the Bagleys Warehouse video... I love it.

Graffiti Bridge, Love sign album, Last part of his life on this planet, sad as it may sound. But think with the Afro, he knew he'd gone full circle, and with the last tour on his own an all, I kinda think, he almost knew his time was done.

Makes sense if you consider Prince was a "brand" owned by WB so he'd have to look as different as possible while making a new brand for himself (Love Symbol) as they were going through the contract stuff.

Gangster Glam video. The suspenders and panties were an interesting look

Oh, the Ferigno look in the Raspberry Beret video deserves a mention; though the look as a whole fit the ATWIAD concept / image.
