Blast From The Past 6.0

It's out there.... eek Unfortunately, Cosmic Day is the slowed down edit sad

[Edited 12/9/17 17:19pm]

-----------

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not, or asking for them in any kind of variation. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced!

If The Kid is quite enjoyable. More of it to love! Those annoying changes in the album version are ironed out and the song plays more smoothly. But "Ain't nobody ba-a-aad like me" is cut.

Dont understand why it is even on here for another time if it doesnt even go past the second verse. That clip been out for years. Thankful for everything else but...what's the point of its addition again.

Oh wow, the full length version of Purple Rain isn't the fake First Avenue audio/strings edit. It's actually pretty neat to finally hear.

It sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? Compensates a bit for the Cosmic Debacle!

The is Purple Rain verison was on a configuration from October, if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully we'll here some more from that tape in the future.

It's basically the album version (dubs and all) with the cut chorus/verse and the full guitar solo at the end.

Some pretty good stuff on this collection. Personally, I still think BFTP 4.0 disc 4 is the best of the 2017 discs!

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Grabbed a copy, knowing full well that I needed only a couple of tracks from it. All I've got to say is thank you leakers, because "Closer To God" contained 98% of the exclusive stuff on 6.0 - and just about everything here has been tweaked and NR'd to death - last week's leaks are clearly better. For a quick illustration, listen to 17 Days on 6.0 -- it sounds like Shit. Now listen again to the leak we recieved last week. Night and Day difference. The experience is similar throughout this set, although that's probably the most dramatic example.

Beyond last week's leak, there's very little we haven't heard already as we get deeper into the set. We've already got the "Beginnings" copy of the D&P album. "Feel U Up" here is the same as released, but pointlessly edits out the sax solo. "18 & Over" is cool tho, this was from the Madhouse 26 sessions right?

At first listen, there's nothing here that isn't better on Closer To God.

Except, let's talk about "If The Kid Can't Make U Come". Granted this isn't the greatest Time song, but it IS part of Ice Cream Castle, and GodDAMN those crossfade edits have bugged me since '84! So it's Definitely cool to finally have the uncut version here, even in "Eye Records" quality. So thanks for that one, Eye.

And, the Penultimate Version of "Purple Rain". Now, like the above Time track, I'm sure this has been in the hands of the elite traders for a long time, but I'VE never heard it till now, and it's about damn time. There's the raw First Ave tape from the video soundtrack, there's the "test mix" that leaked out a few years ago with the string section turned up in the mix, but now, here's the long version, but closer to the mix quality of the LP version. The sound here is a bit thin, but the track is welcome just the same.

Yes kids, not only did the leakers scoop Eye with last week's link, essentially saying "don't give Eye your money, here it is for free", but they also gave us tapes that sound Loads better than the Eye copies. A lot of people seem to cry foul when we say "Fuck Eye Records". We don't say that for no reason.

Grab the three tracks that matter off this release and dump the rest.

Now if only a FLAC version of "Close 2 God: Outtakes 1980-2015" could leak... beg

Let's not forget that if Eye Records hadn't released "Blast From The Past 6.0", we would have never seen "Closer 2 God: Outtakes 1980-2015". This is a pissing contest, that's all.

At least Eye Records is willing to let the rest of us hear these wonderful songs. I'm more upset at the so called elite collectors for keeping this stuff for decades from guys like me that have loved Prince for 30+ years. Why am I not allowed to hear this stuff? Just because I'm not "elite"? Is it because I never worked with Prince? How does one become elite? Why does it take Eye Records to get them to release this stuff? Do they relize that releasing these things just before Eye Records makes me want to buy the Eye release even more? It's almost like a pre-advance single from the old days.

I have bought almost every Prince album on the day of release since "Around the world in a day". I bought every download from his multiple websites. I have multiple formats of his albums (vinyl, CD, computer rip, even 8-tracks). I have over 200 12" singles, many bought on original release dates. I have every US 45 most bought on day of release. I have spent thousands of dollars on Prince's music. I'd like to think my collection is pretty impressive for somebody who had no ties to Prince whatsoever.

Come on elite, throw me a bone once in a while. lol

Thank you for letting me rant. lol

Money. The answer is money. We're talking thousands of euros/dollars, here. Eye Records sell that stuff.

Well fans already seemed to have what Eye Records 'were given' based on the Closer to God leak. I say the power is already in the hands of fans, it's just up to us and actually do something about it.

Every unreleased song (you know, the hundreds that are out there. Thousands if you include live tracks) are out there because collectors either bought them & released them for free, sold them to boot labels or shared with others who then leaked them.

Instead of whining about what you don't have, why not be grateful for the huge amount you do have... and be happy that more will come in the future.

Crying that you don't have everything & asking to be 'thrown a bone' after over a hundred new/better quality tracks have been released this year just sounds petulant & greedy.
blah blah blah
