You can only pick one Album.

You can only listen to ONE! Prince Album for the rest of your life... What would it be and why?

Lovesexy.

1st album bought. It allowed me to find the place in my heart where my hair was swept back on one side....that's when I had hair, of course.

My choise is Lovesexy (as well). nod

I love all the songs and the sound with the screaming guitars, so uplifting, so spiritual... heart

Lovesexy, I feel this is Prince's most "personal" album.

I also know that Purple Rain and Sign 'O' The Times and maybe 1999 and Parade are even better albums, (could be)

But I still prefer Lovesexy, it's the album I have listened to the most times, since may '88 (is my guess).

What a wonderful piece of music. I love this fine album! cloud9 worship

Emancipation.

It has 36 tracks on it and the songwriting throughout is just fine in the end.

I can imagine the LinnDrum there and sing dirtier lyrics over the songs myself. wink

Sign 'O' The Times, just because it features such a wide variety of styles. I've yet to grow tired of it. That whole process from Dream Factory-Camille-Crystal Ball was Prince's creative peak imo.

I guess this is the smartest answer from all of them.
I'd go with the same.

Hold on a minute. You say we can only choose ONE album, and then you choose two confused. Why do you get an either/or choice? I'm not playing until you choose 'ONE' no no no!

If there were ever a soundtrack of my life, SOTT is it. I'd take it too.

Purple Rain. Don't care how generic it is, it's his most satisfying start to finish listening experience for me.

It's many things, but generic is not one of them, and you could choose it and never look back.

Oh gee another thread making us choose a restricted number of albums in a sense of finality? How original.

hyperpessimist

I'd go with the black album... it's Prince at the height of his powers while momentaneously playing rough and chaotic like the early days.

How old are you that you'd call Purple Rain a generic album? That record basically invented a whole new genre of music. Upon its release it sounded like nothing that anyone had ever heard before.

I'd pick SOTT but I'd be pretty sad that I could only ever get to listen to one P album for the rest of my days wink I think 1999 is his best but, it's a one very specific style for the entire recording. SOTT would be a better long term pick based on diversity.
