Prince Unplugged

Has Prince ever performed a entire show using accoustic instruments only and band? ie similiar to MTV Unplugged concept...

The few solo Prince live accousitic perfomances I've seen were amazing!

In the middle of this, however, Prince sat at center stage and did a solo acoustic miniset that allowed him to play with the arrangements of know-by-heart tunes such as "Cream," "Raspberry Beret" and "Little Red Corvette."

I seem to remember Prince doing an acoustic concert in Hollywood a while back, I wasn't able to attend, and it's not on Prince Vault so maybe it was something else.

Prince was set to do MTV Unplugged around 1991. I went to an event this fall held by PRN Alumni. I don't remember who it was that told the story, but they said Prince had agreed to do it and the MTV crew flew to Minnesota to film it at Paisley Park. While they were there he changed his mind and it never happened. I don't think he's ever done a whole acoustic show with a band.

Damn shame. Although, one of the celebration Xenophobia performances was more acoustic... need to listen to all that again.

Agreed about wishing for an acoustic set and listening to the Xenophoboia guitar based concert! I think that Xenaphobia series was one of the most impressive and under-rated things that Prince has ever done!
