I never got into the boots when Prince was with us, because I respected his wishes. But recently, I've been wanting/needing to hear more of him, things I've never heard, and I will admit I've downloaded a few files. And I listen to some of these and wonder "Why in the world, didn't he release these!?" Some of them don't quite sound completed but some are just superb. But even the ones that aren't completed, send shivers down my spine and I can't help think how much more powerful they would have been if they had been completed. What was he thinking that he didn't release some of these songs????

Prince wrote and recorded songs everyday, he would play stuff what he felt at the time and already be thinking what he would write next and often have several songs in his head at anyone time. He simply moved onto the next song and put stuff aside for another day maybe to be used again years later in an album or never touched again.

He lived in the moment and he didn’t have time to polish every good track, he simply had too much music. He is the most prolific artist we will EVER witness I am sure of that.

Co-sign. I never liked that duet version and have always felt that this should be sung alone, and that´s why so far the live version from the Nude tour, especially the ones from La Coruna in Spain and the rendition he gave in Buenos Aires at the River Plate Stadium were my favorite versions but now that this version has surfaced it´s right up there with those two live renditions.

Absolutely stunning to hear him sing this Family version of that song.

So much better than any duet version.

Don´t get me wrong, not that I dislike Rosie Gaines but the Rosie version or Shelby versions didn´t do much for me.

This, however, is a true gem.

There is a later Prince studio version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" with strings in place of the cheesy synth.

It isn't clear what u mean. An upgrade of the 84 version? A later rerecording?

Is it the 84 or 91 version on Blast From the Past 6?

Just had a listen and I have no idea. Must say that I didn't even catch that there was even a voice there when listening normally and only heard it when I paid attention after your post.

I'm also liking it and was surprised to see the Eye flyer saying it was fom 89. I'd have guessed 93-94

It's only three seconds, once you adjust the speed to the released take (101.152%). Now it's 7:29!!

Red Scarlett and the Prince "rap" reminds me alot of Tony's flow in the first verse of 2gether. And yes, I also hear the pool shots in the background and my source was my shitty speaker on the phone. So I bet I'll hear it clearer, later, on headphones.

I know he always lived in the moment and kept flowing, but, some of these songs -- wow. They would have been huge hits (still would). But he didn't live for the hits, he lived for the music. This music truly shows just how versatile, how gifted, how extraordinary this man was. I can't help but think I've missed out on a lot of music over the years.

It's not Mayte. It's definitely Elisa. One listen to her released version of this song instantly confirms it.

Of course not. Mayte is not a (good) singer. She is not able to sing that well.

How diff we all are...my all time most fav version is the one he did at Montreaux July 14,2013 where he and Shelby duet. It may b/c I hae seen the fantastic concert video..it may be b/c of the hilarious face he makes when he stops short and lets the crowd take over ('all the flowers in the back yard...) or it may be b/c of his look when the Trumpeter starts blowing again as he is about to sing at the end.

I don'tknow but that one hits me everytime.

Also, Dr Funk''s 1st Podcast after Prince's passing opened with Prince doing NC2U...it sounded like a rehearsal or something but there was some kind of urgency to it that connected for me..big time. NO idea of that source.

Interesting - longer than the released version... shorter than the "Long Stroke"... at the very end seems to be the intro to Superfunkycalifragisexy.

Yup. I heard that too. What kind of configuration are we talking about here? A mix between Camille and TBA?

Either a configuration we don't know about, or simply a mix tape given to someone. Similar to the end of "Bang Bang" where you can hear "Your Love is So Hard" starting up.

I'll leave that for smarter people to decide smile

I'd opt for a mixtape until any proof of a configuration surfaces. Those leaks usually come from tapes compiling several outtakes, and those tapes were reconfigured over and over by traders for years before cassettes eventually became CD tracks and files. Leaving a short intro at the end could be a mistake or a simple way of tagging a file.

Thanks DJ.

I like the last minute or so of this. Only had quick listen but maybe some different ad-libs there. Longer than the Short Stroke version and shorter than the Long Stroke so I guess this is Medium Stroke..

Hoping th 3.10 version of Cosmic Day leaks soon. I just hope it's not that awful slowed down fan made fake version because that is also 3.10.

I had read the full version was about 4.30, but i'll take another minute or so for now
