Not on record but Electric Intercourse from the 83 show is my personal favorite. Perfect.

I think what makes this one special is that we actually get to see what he looked like when he delivered it. Yes - he did some amazing (possibly better, even) screams on audio recordings. But there's just something about seeing his face, his total "in the moment-ness" that sends this one over the top.

At the end of We Can Fuck/Funk, in the background behind "See this gold chain around my waist...taste...true.", there he's screaming his head off in perfect pitch.
What?

Once he's completed his thesis on silence, and he's gotten bored with his career as a silence teacher in Harvard, I'm pretty sure Dilan could be interested in teaching "screaming theory in music" in Stanford nod

Agreed. It’s very cool to see him doing the scream. Gulps of air, long intense scream with head cocked slightly, and head shaking afterward!

If by the original version, you mean the one off of The Gold Experience, I totally agree!

I love the "Owowah!" in 'Da Bang' from Crystal Ball. DMSR is obviously perfect! But, for me, I think the beginning scream in Gett Off is crazy! Btw, I read somethin that it was actually Rosie Gaines but I will continue to believe it was P until that's been proven.

That's Rosie. Confirmed on here years ago by her and someone else.

Huh, that’s interesting. Sounds so much like Prince

I've always been amazed at how his screams were not mere out-of-control noise. He actually held a note under most of them.

Listen to The Beautiful Ones, for example. You can actually sing along with the screams - there are notes there. And on International Lover, he sings out of the scream without missing a beat or note.

It's quite remarkable.

For me it is that scream epilogue in the Beautiful Ones.

That scream coda burns out like an incandescent fuselage of vocal pyrotechnics.

I will say as someone suggested Temptation he does some pretty bad ass screams. So many screams are just mind-blowing in his work.

The ooh-waahs are kill and distinctive but they lack the passion of his uninhibited soul borrowing screams.

Ps - edit Just read what you said Genesia. I completely agree about the musicality of his screams.

Not to diminish Prince's abilities in any way, but James Brown was first.
That said, they're the only two singers I know of capable of such deliveries.

TBO, SITW, DMB and Endorphinmachine being the usual suspects, I'll go with Temptation:

Oh yeah, the manic ones.
Just came across "Hot Thing", and of course there's the hilarious one of the intro,
and then some more when Eric comes in.

And what about "God (vocal)"?
A rare case of an inhaled one.

Prince had more musicality in one of his screams than in some artists whole discography.
