Prince on Gregory Porter’s Popular Voices on BBC 4

Great section on Prince’s voice on Gregory Porter’s Popular Voices on BBC Channel 4 last night. He interviewed Wendy and Lisa and other musicians about the Prince’s voice and what made it so great and unique. It is still on BBC iPlayer. Also, loved the section on Freddie Mercury.

This enjoyable programme was all about how these great singers were showstoppers, and boy was Prince one helluva showstopper. Loved how Wendy stressed how nobody else but Prince could scream the way he did and then keep the melody line, and how the band members were so closely observing the next move in his performance.
