NYTimes article: How Prince got his name.

I always thought the story about Prince's name was specifically related to his father's jazz band and that only. Interesting article.

He was the equivalent of a modern day tele-evangelist peddling salvation while milking the flock. Question is , what was the connection to the name?

LR LR LR, what are we to do with you? The article does not unequivocally state that this is exactly how Prince got the name or was connected to the name of Douglas T Rogers who changed his name.. Read paragraphs 8-14. He is merely drawing a parallel to what may have been heard in the Nelson's house household per a radio show and some appropriateness to the Prince we know. In paragraph 14 the author clearly states: "I don't know what it all means". You can continue from there because I'm sure you read the article. You always do.

I thought the same thing Laura did from your post, but since you're the OP I decided you meant how did John Nelson's band get the name? It would take some research to find out how and why the band decided on the name. If there is still anyone around who knows the story.

—I never said the article stated definitely that John got the idea for the name f I typed “Did you read the article “ I did read and the author makes a good case and the article is researched well never said anything more than that.
