But why keep it a secret if he had cancer?

Prince was private with a lot of things, so his family is just doing that out of respect

Because some people look at you differently after they hear that you have cancer. I learned that from watching my mother battle ovarian, breast and finally, pancreatic cancer.

The first week she returned to church after her mastectomy, a real gem cornered her to ask which breast "was real"? Can you imagine how she felt...fortunately for the inquisitive parishioner, I was not present or she would have found out what the expression "come to Jesus moment" really means.

I had a much less dramatic cancer, which required radiation treatment...my brother has no idea. Some of us prefer it that way.

Now that this is being spoken of in an ‘out’ kind of way might this thread be locked or disappear? Or is now being deemed ‘the time’ - raises questions about when did he know, why no will? But this does kind of fit with information we have. God bless the wee man whatever happened. Somethings I guess we’ll never know - and we probably have not need or right to. Big loves purple hippies.

Need confirmation first, but this is interesting.

Questions that follow:

Where was the tumor?

Since when did he know he had this?

This could (!) explain the opioids partly: if he really had cancer in certain areas, he could have gotten prescriptions for painkillers.

So either he had this for a while and/or this case was not deemed severe enough for prescription opioids yet still an obstacle for his everyday life...

Weird how virtually every drug in his possession was illicit. Nobody with cancer these days escapes palliative care (unless you're american and broke maybe)

Believe me or not!! But it has been confirmed from two people close to the inner circle of prince's that he was ill with cancer..end of story. It doesn't matter what some theories you guy's come up with but it's not the truth.

So I haven't been here much lately but I see the death discussion has now circled back to cancer (moved off from murder, AIDS, epilepsy etc though it'll probably return to those in time).

-

To believe this terminal-cancer theory, we would need to believe:

-

1. Those in his "inner circle" have conspired to keep this information hidden from the public (but do whisper about it cryptically on social media, apparently) -- nearly 2 YEARS after his death. Why the conspiracy? Who knows?

-

2. That he self-medicated his terminal cancer with illegal opioids. Again, unlear why, as a terminal cancer patient would not have a problem getting pain medication from a doctor.

-

3. And speaking of doctors, no info has come forth that would correlate to any conventional treatment for cancer. None of the drugs found at PP were cancer related, and the warrants made no mention of treatment from a cancer doctor; the only thing we know with some certainty is that he saw a general-practice doctor just twice, both times in the weeks before his death, and that Kirk stated to police in the warrant that Prince had no other regular doctor. Yeah sure, this may be part of the big conspiracy, but why?

-

4. That he kept up a fairly busy schedule while dealing with latter-stage terminal cancer. Some folks here have insisted that no one struggling with addiction could have kept his schedule, but apparently that same schedule would have been no problem for a late-stage terminal patient.

-

5. That the ME didn't judge his late-stage cancer was even a contributing cause to his death -- even tho he was apparently taking the opioids to deal with the pain of the cancer (I guess that's the theory?). Or was she in on the conspiracy of silence?

-

And finally: There idea that this theory would add clarity around the circumstances of his death. It seems the polar opposite would be true (see #2 and #3 above) -- it would render his death much more incomprehensible.

Unless you give us all the insight, you're just a theorist as the rest of us! Claiming that "Someone" told you he was sick, doesn't make you sound credible.

Many people claim that "a politician told them that 9/11 was an inside job" but how credible are these people? They only say that to make their theories look more real!

My best friend's mother died from lung cancer. She was 70. Didn't smoke or drink a day in her life. All those things cause cancer, yes, but cancer is also caused by a number of other factors like air pollution or gene mutation. You can take care of your teeth all you want and should but cavities are created by more than poor dental hygiene. Fatty foods cause blockages and heart attacks but you can eat only fresh fruits and veggies and still get heart disease. The body isn't fort Knox. Do a little research on pancreatic cancer and stars who lost that battle. The important key here is there is no battle to win with pancreatic cancer. Patrick Swayze held on the longest. Do you guys think Prince wanted to be hooked up to tubes? Wheelchair bound? Need someone to feed him, bathe him, change his diapers? Think about it. Abigail needs to STOP and leave fans alone. We're all hurting enough without her making up lies and creating more drama

Gleaned from some of the search warrants: Yes, he did see various Drs. "for Vitamin B12 shots" prior to some concerts in other countries (according to witnesses questioned) in the weeks preceeding. Also, the ME simply has to state the cause of death. Since he didn't die of cancer, but fentanyl, it can't be entered as such. As for members of his inner circle staying mum, it's out of respect. It's NOT their place to say what they know/knew or when. As we've seen after the fact, there were 2 pharmacists who tried to get his medical records so I'm not surprised he would have wanted to avoid that scenario while here.

Sorry I just don't find this persuasive. Occasional B12 shots are not a cancer treatment, and if that was really chemotherapy, it wouldn't be adminstered by sporadic injection at concert venues. As for the ME report, that was discussed here a ton before -- and I personally contacted the ME's office to get their exact descroption of how that form is filled out -- so we'll just agree to disagree that part.

-

And I don't see a conspiracy of silence as "respecting his privacy." While he was alive, sure. But after he was found dead of an opioid OD in an elevator? No, there would be no need to maintain "privacy" around cancer after that. Cancer isn't some taboo shameful secret -- cancer is certainly far less stigmatized to most people than drug addiction is.

-

At the end of the day, I don't see how him having a terminal illness would make the circumstances of his death more comprehensible. It would make it far less so to me.

What I'm saying as far as Drs. is that he did see Drs. in other places so who knows whom he saw for anything else (he did receive tests, after all, which we know nothing about). We received only the partial autopsy report, not the full one so it's not a matter of disagreeing or not - partials only state the cause. The full report would go to the family. If you recall, Sheila E said "we know what happened" in the first few days and then went silent. Would you appreciate everyone discussing someone's illness in your family with all and sundry?

I agree. I think it's far worse to be labeled as a drug-addict than a person who was battling a terminal disease. If it is true that Prince had cancer, then I just do not understand the rationale of the Nelson family. But on the other hand, maybe they are honoring Prince's wishes, and perhaps he did not want to tell us fans, because Prince did not want any sympathy. Oh, this just makes me even more sad to know that Prince went to his grave like that; he couldn't tell us! sad

Yes, for me it will have to come from Tyka, she and possibly Omarr would be the only ones of that bunch I would believe.

It doesn't make sense. If he had this type of cancer, there is no way he would be able to throw a party, ride a bike or anything else in his last few days. let alone give a concert the week before. The type of pain that comes with that cancer is terrible. My cousin died of it. She didn't make it 3 weeks after being diagnosed.

It sure doesn't make any sense. My husband watched his father die from cancer. I have seen what it does to people. I'm so sorry about your cousin. When my Mother passed, the doctor told me she may have had lung cancer, but she was too weak for them to do a biopsy. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

She didn't make it 3 weeks after being diagnosed.

.

I would have the utmost respect for the Nelson's if they released a public statement concerning Prince's death.

.

It sure doesn't make any sense. My husband watched his father die from cancer. I have seen what it does to people. I'm so sorry about your cousin. When my Mother passed, the doctor told me she may have had lung cancer, but she was too weak for them to do a biopsy. Life can be so cruel sometimes. sad

I don't mind the ocassional grey/rainy day, but dark cold days on end--that bitter cold that just smacks you right in the face....no.

And like you said, if Prince had Pancreatic Cancer, it would be next to impossible to have parties and doing tours in that condition. He would be bed-ridden. He sang beautifully in ATL, and no one could sing like that if they were in excruciating pain.
