Not you but what is your professional opinon about the SNJ attorneys. Did they not realize that this type of stuff is going to irritate the judge? Why are that not advising the clients to attend the meetings and if need be find a business consultant that really wants to work.

Good lord there must thousands of entertainment attorneys and firm they could consult with.

Well lets face it, the SNJ attorneys have difficult clients.

You counsel your clients about what the outcome may or may not be in regard to what they are requesting/demanding.

But if you have an "advisor" telling your clients the opposite of what you have advised them then it is very difficult to control an already out of control client.

There is a Code of Professional Responsibility that states an attorney must abide by a client's decisions.

Which means the client is the boss.

This is probably why Judge Eide said 'The Court strongly condemns bringing this matter before the Court without adequate discussion between the parties and will sanction a party for doing so in the future."

The Judge did not say he would sanction the attorney but the party.

If the estate wins, Tidal will probably file for bankruptcy.

I doubt the estate lawsuit would cause bankruptcy. Sprint owns 33% of The for a reason it is so that can come in and buy a controlling interest in the company. The same thing just happened to the OWN network. As much as people on this board hate Jay-Z he is not going to financially ruined as one of his holding companies is the majority owner not Jay-Z. He will sale the company and move on to something else.

Hi,
Apologies in advance, as I would probably find the answer to my question if I read through this thread, but it is a little bit too long and there’s too much going on, so hopefully someone who is a bit more up to date can help.
I keep reading about documentaries and where the vault music should be kept, but as far as I know there’s no news about a new deal to release the music? Is this so? Are there any rumours, or does anyone know if any companies have shown any interest after the Universal debacle? That happened a while ago now, so I’d love to know if there’s been any developments since.
Apologies again wink

The deal with WB has not expired but a whole new crew of people are coming on board at WB so maybe something will in 2018.

It appears to be that way.

He didnt say sanction attorneys and parties.

As we know in the past the Judge has sanctioned a couple attorneys monetarily.

I hope this is not true because it would be WB just milking the PR/Revolution era. I think 1999 and SOTT deserve deluxe treatment and I cannot understand why SOTT is treated with so much disrespect by WB.

PR era is the most recognizable to general public. For us, I'm afraid that WB will do what they wanted to with Prince and put out one project a year. That would suck.

I have nothing against them putting out one project a year but they are wasting time as I am sure the WB contract has an end date. We know from media reports from the WSJ that WB has lifetime licensing for the soundtracks so why not do something with the albums they are not going to have access to forver first.

I hope we are not getting a PR/Remaster part 2 or 3.

According to the press and little bit out of the court docs.

Each Album that was licensed to WB had different terms and the soundtracks are licensed out forever.

Keep in my the estate owns the masters and publishing and WB is just doing the distrubution.

Cameron Stang who was the CEO was let go and new people are coming in January. So we will see.

I believe they have to work together. The estate owns everything and WB just has a license to distrube the music. I am sure that some portion of this deal has an end date and perhaps the estate can find another company to distrubute or do it themselves. If the soundtracks are licensed forever then the estate will be working with WB forever on releashes also remember WB has their own vault of Prince's music so maybe they can work something out to put be some of that stuff out.

The Second Special Administrator's report is heavily redacted.

"Advisors did not comport themselves with the requisite care, skill and prudence called for under the circumstances.."

"The Estate has suffered considerable out of pocket expenses in the form of the fees and costs paid to

SLS and the Advisors for professional and expert services for which no value was received.

Under the circumstances, the Second Special Administrator believes it is in the best interests of

the Estate to pursue those out of pocket expenditures. To not pursue the claims, would allow

these parties to unjustly enrich themselves at the expense of the Estate."

"There is a reasonable basis for a claim against SLS, Meister Seelig, and the Advisors for

the damage to the Estate arising out of the delay in the commercial exploitation of the NPG

Masters and the Vault Masters (posthumous releases)."

nod

but how interesting would all these documents be if they weren't redacted eek

all that information about those deals drool such fascinating stuff. but it's all
redacted into oblivion. although, here and there, a few tidbits can be deduced
if one reads attentively.

best of all though is some of these people getting their ass handed to them biggrin

Very interesting!

.

"it makes no sense to conclude that the Estate has received anything of value that would entitle the Advisors to a commission."

.

Furthermore I think taht it does not matter that UMG did not ask about the 2014 deal but that they received a `situation` where that deal conflicts in certain ways or at least it cannot be ruled out that it does not conflict.

Or is there a line in the failed deal's papers that says: UMG buys these rights knowing that there might be a conflict with a prior deal with WB?

Londell is arrogant and that arrogance makes him think everyone else is stupid. He is a low rent conman who’s should Be ashamed of himself. Prince made his career and this is how he returns the favor and he gets half of the sibs to help him. The man had rats around him who only want money. His cousin was spot on about no one caring about him as person.
