Prince songs for a wounded heart

Hi folks, am currently potentially going through a mutual breakup with my girlfriend after a year. At the moment suffering from mixed emotions. Can anyone recommend any healing or uplifting/upbeat songs that might help me get through this time? Thanks all.

:bro hug:, if that was even an emoticon, first of all.

I'm going through something similar. Girl that likes me but is also playing games, I liked her too, but apparently not as much as I thought. It's kind of going nowhere fast, games, drama, heartbreak, in the end I got hurt. Funny how that works huh?

One song that I always return to is The Love We Make. I'm actually playing it now.

I dont necessarily interpret it as a sexual line, the only love there is is the love we make. There's another saying, the only remedy for love, is love. I liken it to that.

If you're going through a heartbreak, give love. It sounds dumb but it will work.

And this is the best place to come if you're ever in this situation, any situation. I've opened up a few times on this board and have always been met with love.

So again, :bro hug: .

Truly a masterpiece, but I'm not sure it qualifies as healing/uplifting...
Throw in "Had U" and you're set for a long-term depression biggrin

Hang in there, maceo. The only bitch there is, is the life we live.

What's goin on with WK, to me it sounds as though it were a man full of pain after killin the object of his desire. The scream and the sirens put that image in my head.

Thanks man. Wise words. Am trying hard not to let my emotions turn to resentment or bitterness. Like Prince want to learn and turn it into a positive.

Lots of good picks so far

For some reason "The Holy River" popped into my head. I am not religious, but the song speaks of a person at peace and having accepted the passing of difficult times, "I don't regret anything but the time."

I like "I can't love u anymore" may be a downer, but deals with the end of a relationship.

Just play music you love, and talk to friends (not necessarily about the relationship) and spend time with people that care for you.

Best wishes for you this is something everyone can relate to so all the best for whatever walks through your door in the future.

I hate U is one I always tend to gravitate to when thinking about a certain someone. Also Acknowledge me as well in retrospect as I feel like I sort of lived those lyrics, very relatable to the same person lol

Maceo,

I know it isn't Prince, but go listen to Blood On the Tracks - Bob Dylan.

Best breakup record ever made.

there's a bit of everything in there - sorrow, loss, strength, weakness, redemption, anger, pain, lonlieness, happiness, memories, love, etc.

In Particular:

Simple Twist of Fate

You're a big girl now

You're gonna make me lonesome when you go

Shelter from the storm

Idiot Wind - thats the big one!!

If you see her, say hello

Meet me in the morning

Buckets of Rain

Please.....give it a try.

I know it ain't Prince, but man, it will help you.

I promise.

Hope it gets better,

MH

Cheers will take a listen. I also like Ryan Adams - Ashes and Fire, such a beautiful album.

Love 2 the 9's got me over a bad breakup at the time, with a girl I really feel in love with, or so I thought...these lyrics made me realize that although I thought it was love, it really wasn't. You need to reach this kind of high level to be truly happy. This was deep thinking for a mainstream artist.

Don't use the magical
Mysterious, intoxicating, joy fantastic
Fascinating word called love
Unless you love me to the nine's
This is the only kind of love
That I've been dreaming of
The kind of love that takes over your
Body, mind, and soul
Love two the nine's
