Four-minute version of "Miss you" - fanmade?

First off, I am talking about this early Prince recording, NOT the Rolling Stones tune of the same name (which he covered): http://www.princevault.co...e=Miss_You

The version of "Miss You" on "The Work" CD is just under 2:00 minutes long. But I came across a version that's about 4:00 minutes long. Is this a fanmade variation? That's my hunch but I thought I would check here. smile

I'm not aware of any longer version, though my outtakes folder is such a mess that I may just as well have this and not know it lol

I'd be inclined to say fake if it's not on Pvault and if it just sounds like an extended version of the one on The Work, but don't take my word for it.

I cant remember (if i ever knew) where it came from originally but it was compiled recently on Blast from the Past 4.0 and it is indeed fanmade.

I would like to THANK those same so-called BFTP assholes for all of the wonderful kick-ass Prince outtakes that I would never have heard otherwise. Remember, the "elite traders" don't want you to have anything, but the "bootleggers" at least give you the option to buy. Also, I can't wait to hear future BFTP releases. Long live Eye Records and anyone else that gives me access to Prince music/video that I haven't got. Hundalasiliah!

I know the feeling! lol I had a little time yesterday to work on it, and realized I had this "extended" version of the song. Prob just fanmade.

This may not have been aimed at me, but at any rate I am definitely not an "elite trader"! lol Most of what I have, I found since 4/21 on YT or various other open sources. TBH, I don't even know where or how to buy those bootleg releases from Eye, etc.

I did try to share stuff on YT myself, only to have my channel deleted. pout So I think we're all squeezed between entities who are still clamping down on copyright violations, vs. an estate that shows no signs of releasing anything. rolleyes

Even because new music released (official or bootleg) is the only thing that will substain real interest and discussions in a forum like this and to some extent to our P enjoyment.

How many times can we go with "put your best of" or "let's celebrate this song" topics repeating themselves without nausea?!?!?

Prince lived for the music. Music has to make live Prince again in our lives.

It is of utmost importance that Prince's music is calalogued correctly and accurately.

Any pollutants will greatly effect his legacy and invalidate the catalogue.

Wait till some of you stumble across ex-orger Ernest's Tony M-less edits. Love Symbol becomes this insane abrupt album full of 2 minute half songs, its a great listen but mostly in a WTF kind of way.

I doubt eye records care about things like integrity, its all about getting the $

They would probably sell 4cd stes of fan mixes if they could. Thats if they even bothered to notice it was a fake (champagne saturday anyone?)

Right...because the VAST amount of material out there for is all to enjoy ALL comes exclusively from eye records doesn't it
I mean, we've never had any cool free releases or the huge amount of stuff available for years

I'd rather thank the people who put the BFTP on the internet for free as soon as they're released.

I won't get into the debate regarding whether it's wrong to make money off bootlegs, because back in the pre-internet days I was more than willing to pay for boots when I had no other choice. However like Revolution81 said many others choose to release boots for free online, and those people deserve some praise.

But back to Eye Records and BFTP, I would certainly thank them if they produced quality compilations. Instead they insist on:

- Putting fake, fanmade material on their compilations, which is unacceptable in those days when it's easier than 25 years ago to know what's genuine and what's not.

- Putting songs we already have had for years, without any improvement on quality, on each BFTP volume, so they can sell it for a higher price, when they could simply, and only include new and improved material.

If I was inclined to but those CD's, it would mean I's have to buy 2 CD's of fakes and stuff I already have to get 2 others of stuff I don't. Maybe you like being scammed, I don't.

I'm sorry, but no matter how much I appreciate having new material, I don't feel like praising people who seemingly don't give a damn about either Prince's legacy or the fans who purchased their "products", and are obviously only in it for the dough. If they wanna make money, that's fine, but then they should care a little more about the quality of the product. And if there is a demand for compilations of already available material, then they should be released separately, for those people who want it.
