Finally heard the 1981 version of Tick, Tick, Bang!!

Also, a funky instrumental called "Trouble" that doesn't seem to be listed in the Vault???

Every heard of it??

I love Prince's early 80s funkabilly stuff. Great to finally hear it.

So much better than the "official" version. nod

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't think it's better than the GB version. I don't like the all synth sound. Too bad he couldn't have came up with a middle ground version between the two. Well who knows they're may be someplace.

OMG that is what makes it. That could have been a Dirty Mind track and a wonderful addition to Controversy (maybe a B side)

I do enjoy the GB version - it's a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine - but the original is, indeed, something else. Quite, quite deliciously brilliant. And, if I may say so, that is quite the playlist.

Indeed. The vocal version is on his first album. This instrumental version remains unreleased but originally appeared on the Studio Nights bootleg boxset back in 95,alongside 2 other non Prince tracks: another Andre instrumental and a Brown Mark demo titled Suzie Lovelace.

I'm definitely a fan of the GB version - Although listening to it now gives it a different feeling after hearing the original

Would love to hear an entire album of stuff this raw and untamed.

Weirdly I had to hear the 1981 version before I could appreciate the GB version.

A decent song in the 1981 version.

A total mess in the GB version.
