Prince Memorial Bench in Henderson, MN

Henderson, Minnesota is the location where the famous "That ain't Lake Minnetonka" scene was filmed for Prince's iconic "Purple Rain". We are raising funds to bring a memorial bench to the city to honor Prince, Purple Rain and Henderson's part in movie history. We have received the go from the local government and all we need now is your support to bring this dream to life.
Jedi Nation will be working closely with Joel King, who is a Henderson resident that worked with Prince on "Graffiti Bridge" and other projects and will be our boots on the ground as this project comes together. Our hope is that you will make this a part of all your Minnesota visits for years to come to reflect, relive movie history and remember our beloved Prince.

Donations of 100.00 or more will receive permanet name recognition at the site near the bench.

Wouldn't it be appropriate to have the bench next to the lake?

You could invite Apollonia to attend its installation ... and re-enact the scene.

Now, that might raise some funds.

I thought that scene was filmed in LA.
I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

How will this be done? What will make it permanent?

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

I think it would be nice to primarily have a bench right at the spot on the lake where the scene was filmed, and perhaps a 2nd one in town.

And yes - invite Appolonia to the ribbon-cutting!

well, it will be HEAVY, made of granite and anchored down. the plaque with the donor names will be set in a stone also VERY heavy. So, will it survive WWIII, maybe not, but it will be pretty permanent

Thanks for asking smile

The property the scene is not owned by the city of Henderson otherwise that is where it would go. I can't promise anything at this point but we are trying to get some purple royalty to be at the ribbon-cutting. thanks for your comments

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
