Prince: The Deep Cuts After Show

Longtime fans know Prince was a sight to behold in a live setting, from his peacocking across the stage to the impeccable tightness of his band. Unfortunately, there were literally hundreds of songs that didn’t appear in his usual concert lineup. If Prince held a contest and gave the power to the people to handpick songs that weren’t major hits, here’s what I’d ask him to play:

1. Play in the Sunshine (from Sign O’ the Times, 1987)
2. Love 2 the 9s (from The Love Symbol Album, 1992)
3. Money Don’t Matter 2 Night (from Diamonds and Pearls, 1991)
4. Crazy You (from For You, 1978)
5. Life Can Be So Nice (from Parade, 1986)
6. Elephants and Flowers (from Graffiti Bridge, 1990)
7. And God Created Woman (from The Love Symbol Album, 1992)
8. Time (from Art Official Age, 2014)

----- Intermission -----

9. Lovesexy (from Lovesexy, 1988)
10. Automatic (from 1999, 1982)
11. Electric Chair (from Batman, 1989)
12. Crystal Ball (from Crystal Ball, 1998)
13. Tictactoe (from Plectrumelectrum, 2014)
14. It’s Gonna Be Lonely (from Prince, 1979)
15. Revelation (from HITnRUN Phase Two, 2015)
16. Way Back Home (from Art Official Age, 2014)

What would your Deep Cuts After Show playlist look like?

I think you have made a very good playlist.

If I could be greedy, I'd also ask for Just My Imagination (Small Club Version), Something In the Water (Prince and 3rd Eye Girl 2013 Rehearsal Version), Space (Come Album), and Strange Relationship (Sign O The Times Album).

All four of your suggestions would be great to hear in a live setting. Thanks for reading!

Solidy list . . . he did play "Elephants and Flowers" during his acoustic interlude when i saw him on the Musicology tour. I also saw him play "And God Created Woman" on the prince tour.

He also did Elephants and Flowers at one of the O2 aftershows in '07. Was an awesome rock version during the power trio show on 28th August. Well worth tracking down on bootleg if you haven't heard it.

RIP sad
