365 Prince Songs in a Year. cloreen-bacon-skin

...

"This entire song – if you’d call it that – features Day on drums and Prince on bass and vocals, speaking in a comically affected voice and telling strange, disjointed stories about his ex-wife, Cloreen Bacon Skin. Without breaking character, he occasionally works in instructions about what Day should play: “Open the high hat, here we go / Rumbling, rumbling, yes / Keep that pocket, don’t get excited, come on..”

"Above everything else, this is a rare glimpse into Prince’s creative process. According to PrinceVault, “Cloreen Bacon Skin” was recorded on March 27, 1983, at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, during a two-day break from the 1999 tour. (The previous day, Prince and Day recorded the future smash “Jungle Love.”) ...

From what I've read, Morris was extremely pissed by the release of Tricky. It's unclear to me if he was aware of it at all in the first place (his vocals at the beginning could have been sampled from another recording, and IDK who are the poeple laughing), but it being released in such a way that the listener would assume he was singing the whole vocals seems to have upset him a lot. I don't remember where I've read this, sorry, maybe in Possessed.

I will have to look and see if it is in Possessed. It is his voice on Tricky and remember Prince and Morris had gotten into an actual fist fight on the set of Purple Rain but still worked on Ice Cream Castles despite all that was going on with the two of them at the time.

He might have been pissed but Morris did walk away from the group and leave Prince holding the bag.

If Cloreen Bacon Skin was the first Prince track I ever heard, I probably wouldn't have listened to any others. Too long, too boring, too bad.

RIP sad

--It is really just Morris and Prince clowning around. I never thought of it as an actual song.
