Interview : Angie Marchese, Head of Archives at Paisley Park!

So ahead of the upcoming MY NAME IS PRINCE exhibition in London, we just did an interview with Angie Marchese, Head of Archives at Paisley Park Museum!

Of course, we had many questions. What surprised her the most about Paisley Park? What does her day to day job involve? What are the future plans for the museum, and how much did Prince really plan in advance?

Listen on for all the answers and more!

Hope the European exhibit comes to the states... Of course, I wished the same thing for the amazing David Bowie exhibit but it only came to Chicago. confused

Thanks Militant.

I am not shocked to hear her say P left instructions for the story lines.

She said "this is what he wanted."

They had numerous emails that P sent. They just followed his road map.
P would hide objects in PP.

They found a secret room.

It contained Elvis' comeback video and all James Bond movies, and SOTT.

And they found videos of P doing sexy times with women.

I just made that up ^^^^

What surprised her? The amount of shoes.

Every nook and cranny had shoes.

The Egg was originally built to be used as a Night Club.

They are following Ps wishes, and they are following his playbook.

--Dave Hampton already said that there was no secret room. It was a screening room he made and he just put a hidden door so you can view movies and footage in privacy. He has also said he had tried to contact them to make this correction. Sigh. Dave also said the egg was suppose to be a restaurant for employees and that a tunnel was built underground so no one would have to go out in the cold but he instead used it for storage.
I wish Graceland would actually make Prince's notes, plans and blueprints public so a lot of the nosense about the museum would stop.

From everything I've read and heard this past year or more - Dave Hampton should be heavily involved at paisley.

Great interview. Now, what are the chances of you scoring an interview with the people who are in charge of the Vault?????

Just watched (or shall I say listened to) the interview on The Violet Reality show. Great info I cannot wait to make it out to Paisley Park, here's hoping for sooner than later!

And to anyone that doesn't listen to The Violet Reality show on YouTube, subscribe and listen. It's awesome!!!

Thanks Militant!

I don't think too many strings usually need tugging to secure an interview with someone who wants to publicise an upcoming event.

Dave was inside the vault organizing it back in the mid 2000s. He may have been the last engineer who worked on the material. He also built that movie screening room and organized the room were the instrutments were kept.

He has a lot of information and he is not hiding anywhere. He was treated very badly by Lonnie and then had some health issues but maybe now the estate managers should reach out to him. It would also be nice if they would stop making it sound like the egg and the screening room were some secret dungeons.

I don’t think anybody is worked up over what someone from Graceland says about PP. Since when is Dave Hampton the Bible on all things PP?

She never said the egg was a secret dungeon did she? She said he wanted it to be a nightclub which very well may have been the case when PP was being built. I like Dave and I do hope he’s involved with the vault in some way.

What’s funny about it is he really only had two styles of shoes (not counting some of the tall boots he wore during Lovesexy era) - the heels and the wedge. It was the same shoe just different color/fabrics to match an outfit. Sometimes the heel was the same color/fabric as the shoe other times it was wood. Sometimes the wedge was the same color as the shoe othertimes it was clear and lit up when he walked.

My favorite though was the furry wedge boots.

The egg was not bulit until many years after Paisley Park was constructed and I remember reading some things from Graceland people when Graceland first took over that made it seem that there was something sinsiter about these hidden rooms and eggs. This person did not go there but that was the case when the first took over because Dave mentioned this back when he first did a interview with Dr. Funkenberry and Mike Dean.

Actually Dave was a little worked up about it and others who worked for Prince and visitors have discussed the script being filled with mis- information.

Dave may not be the Bible on it but he is correct when he has stated that people who worked for Prince should be consulted and given credit for their work. One example he gave was going back to the original builder and taking his statements when Dave had done additional work in the studios, added the screening room and organized the vault.

Dave appears to be the last engineer to do extensive work in the vault and his is heading up the Alumi group so he has the respect of other former employees. He is not the only one to complain about a dismissive attitude toward former PRN employees. Funny how Kirk is the one of the only ones they defer to.

Why dont you eat a chill pill and contact Dave Hampton so you guys can discuss it? Take it to the person who has the issue not the messenger.

It shows a lack of critical thinking when you lash out at the messenger because you do not like the message. More importantly we have a mod who could have brought this up in the conversation.

Prince was bummed they never asked him to do a James Bond theme, or he did one and they passeed, which would have made him flinch.

My opinion is very simple. While people are fussing and fighting over who should receive credit for what, or who should get money from the estate, time is passing. Every day that goes by means another lost opportunity to preserve and continue Prince's musical legacy. 17 months and the vault is still in limbo. Great way to make new fans.

I'm sure if the latter were true, we'd have heard.

I wonder about the former. If he did feel like that, he could have just asked.

The story with "A View To A Kill" is that Duran Duran's John Taylor approached one of the Bond producers at a party and drunkenly said "When are you going to get someone decent to do a theme tune?" lol
