wow, what a memory! Funny how they raved about PR and Prince never did much after that in terms of acting. But it was a little sad that they mentioned David Bowie too sad

Find their review of Under The Cherry Moon. The said it looked like Prince was trying to "blend a Fred Astaire movie with a perfume commercial". I will never forget that. hahaha

Can't agree with you there--I love everything about that movie--flaws and all.

Totally agree with you. I SOOOOOO wanted to see Prince and the Revolution live back then but I was too poor to travel and he didn't come to my town; so, instead, I saw Purple Rain over and over and over again! Good times! I even took a blind date to see it who didn't like Prince...and he walked out of the theater totally sold on Prince. lol

That movie was a trip (Beyond The Valley) LOL ... I always appreciated Ebert's opinion whether I agreed with it or not. Siskel and Ebert on PBS started the whole popular movie review craze that followed. Two thumbs up!

.

They were pretty brutal toward 'Grafitti Bridge' (I think it made their "Worst of the Year" recap episode).

.

If you like Ebert and haven't seen the "Life Itself" documentary, by all means don't delay any longer. I cried like a baby. Beautiful film.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Roger Ebert was a fan of film and appreciated what worked. He was not a snob.
I met him in 2000 when I volunteered at Sundance. He walked around with a digital video, recording US. He talked to everyone and made us all feel important.
He loved the films I loved.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

This is hilarious. They are totally fanning out about Prince, Purple Rain and Ebert almost lost his marbles expressing about how "electrifying" Apollonia was. Love it! I used to love watching this show when I was little.

Ahh! Come on smile For a Prince movie, it's phenomonal, relatively, and for a rock movie, it's pretty great. Oddly enough, I'm not one to spin Purple Rain that much (the LP), or rank it that high among my favorite Prince albums. I like it and it's classic, but it always sounds a little harsh to my ears. Not his best imo. The movie though is a lot of fun.

Siskle and Ebert straight geeking out on this was hilarious though. Good stuff!

Bob... Ain't dat a bitch?
