This kind of language towards our beloved Prince should not be tolerated on the org. My opinion.

Not just language but the fact that he did leave contracts with a business structures that corporate interest are trying to tear it all apart. That is the real story.

What “corporate interest” is trying to tear anything apart?

Sigh, Comerica is a corpration with attorney's. Lonnie is an attorney as he is own interest and do not forget Kopplecrook, UMG, Breamer Bank, and a slew of lawyers.

All of whom already found out that the WB deal could not be breached so they could enrich themselves. Do you think all of these people are working for free?

They estate could have continued to run NPG Publishing and NPG Records and at this time that does not appear to be the case. Why try to set up another deal with UMG a company Prince had cut ties with to go around the WB contract in the first place?

Why try to end the Tidal deal?

Do you realize that these coporate entities have actually caused lawsuits?

you'll have to wonder why it was such a problem that warners still had publishing
rights to his WB era material since they don't seem to be planning on doing anything
at all with his catalogue at this point.

you'd have thought they'd roll out some sort of plan and let people know if and when
the other albums will be remastered and expanded for rerelease. but nope, nothing.

or have i missed something?

We do know what WB plans are I am sure they are going to put out more music. I know they did not get into this license deal with Prince to not make money.

If some of the albums are licensed to WB forever WB does not have to be in any hurry to do anything they have no worries.

I do not think that it is a just a coincedene if indeed WB will be in the picture on some of the albums forever basically it will stop anyone eles from wanting to be involved with the catalogue and I think that is they way Prince wanted.

Again I have no idea what you’re going on about. What is Comerica trying to tear apart? Comerica wasn’t behind the UMG deal were they? And when did UMG become the bad guy? Somebody has to oversee administration of the music side of things. You say the Estate could run NPG Music/Publishing. OK the Estate is either Comerica or Prince’s siblings. What experience do they have in music distribution and publishing? Companies like UMG exist for a reason. Go to their website and check out all the very famous artists they represent. UMG isn’t the devil.

I'd put money on that they need someone to agree a release schedule with... and to decide what vault material is available in order to create more Deluxe Editions.

.

They probably want all the rights to be in one persons hands (or theirs) so they can make the best plan.

1) I actually named Breamer but I guess you missed that. They Breamer tried to break the WB deal.

2) Comerica is now in charge and they could over see the publishing by keeping it in house just like Prince was doing. You go out and you hire people to manage it. Like any business.

3) Companies like UMG exsist to collect fees. Why pay them when you can do it yourself this is exactly why Prince dropped them and brought everything in house. Right now NPG Music Publishing website has a black screen.

4) Did you also know that according to Dr. Funkenberry Prince was unhappy with UMG because they were not active with take down notices and too overzealous with the baby take down notices.

He was not happy with their work and now we have the estate listed as requesting take downs and a whole 3 shirts have been generated by UMG merchandising. In addtion, I question why someone at UMG would have even have agreeded to the licensing deal without reviewing the WB deal first.

The whole entire thing was shady from the inside.

5) I do not think UMG is the devil just not sure they should have been the first option when a business structure already exsisted and the estate needs cash.

There was an admendment done to the WB agreement which I think may have concerned WB Vault material being placed on the deluxe edition.

The do not have the right to go into Prince's vault and they do not control all of the publishing.

i think you're both right. they have the rights to some albums forever, but they don't have access
to the vault (yet). so they might be waiting to see what happens once the estate is settled and the
parties can gather round the table to discuss options and possible joint projects.

I think they may have to get permission from the estate before they can put stuff out. I believe that is what the admendment was for. They have had this stuff for years and never put out anything and their had to be something stopping them after Prince left and they still did nothing after the deal was signed so I still think Prince had control over the publishing and they do not the albilty to put out stuff from their vault without estate permission.

Plus remember Prince said he did not give WB the best stuff.

The frustration is getting to Prince’s heirs. At least to his younger brother Omarr Baker. Thursday night at a fundraiser for the PRN Alumni Foundation at the Machine Shop in Minneapolis, Baker discussed his intention to start a new record label, PRN Family Records, featuring a new band, New Power Soul. The announcement came during a brief off-the-cuff speech by Baker at a benefit for a nonprofit group of former Prince employees that plans to continue his charitable work. “The house is still being run by lawyers and bankers,” Baker said. “No family is running the estate.” He continued that when the family takes over, things will be “done correctly. Can I get an amen? Like a hurricane, this too shall pass.” He added that the family has decided to run the record label “outside” the estate. He said one-third of the revenues from the record will go to pay the estate’s IRS bill. “I’m on a mission,” Baker declared. “A strong mission to make sure things are being done correctly. Hopefully, it’ll happen sooner than later.”
What does he mean when he says the record label will be run outside of the estate? And who is he referring to when he says “the family” as throughout this whole process it doesn’t seem that they’ve been on the same page. We don’t even know if Tyka and Omarr are on the same page. Also is PRN Fsmily Records going to be releasing new vault material or is this just for non-Prince artists?

I wonder would they Sign me? smile

Not sure why this is gone but I have noticed little to know interest from the media or fans about PRN Alumi events or activities. So I am not surprised.

Apparently according to people at the event Omarr did make this statement.

I actually heard it come from his own mouth via a video recording someone on Facebook showed. That woman attended the event.

Excluding Tyka, I believe the others should be kept well away from the Estate, etc.

I would be interested to know what each of them were doing prior to Prince's death. Did they have jobs, money... a life??

Ha--If you have the money and the time you can discover a lot of things about your strangers of choice. lol

>

I know nothing of the family, personally, but if any of them have an ounce of motivation and sensibility, I'd imagine they would recruit managing personel that would take Prince's resources in a revenue-generating direction. If this could be done in a community-enriching way, all the better. I suppose, like yourself, that anyone could have misgivings toward the typical individual being given the reins to such a great resource. Decision-making and proper advisement will be key here and not necessarily these people's personal acheivements.

While the estate is in probate, his heirs have limited say so about what goes on. Once this is resolved though, it will be theirs free and clear. They will be responsible for what happens with their inheritance. Unlike so so many others, I think they will be looking at things with an eye toward what they can do to enhance the legacy. They will have guidance in doing this, rest assured.

People may not like who will inherit and they may not like what the heirs will do. But none of that matters in the slightest, it is THEIR inheritance to process as they see fit. I don't have a problem with that because there is no way that Prince's legacy will be frittered away. He saw to that before he left us and the heirs will need to see to more of it if they want to keep his legacy intact. I am good with that and others should be good with it too.

Give New Power Soul a chance. They will do covers of Prince music which will attract Prince fans who want to hear the music. The Prince impersonator has been doing his show in Vegas for years and usually had rave reviews from fans that went to check him out in Vegas.

No one can ever be Prince or replace him and they are not trying to replace him!

No point throwing hate or negativity (have you had your + sign today) when you have not even seen or heard them yet. Give 'em a chance, sheesh.
