My personal Prince Story

I am a new member, I'm from germany so excuse me if my english isn't the best lol I just wanted to tell what this guy means to me (Maybe you can write your moments with Prince too?). So here we go. I was 12 years old when Michael Jackson died, I didn't know who he was but when I learned about his impact I became a Fan (Yes that part is important tho). So I was a die hard MJ Fan in 2009, it was just a hype train you know? I mean I still love MJ, he was great. Two months after his passing, there was a documentary named "Dr. Prince and Mr. Jackson." It was the first time I heard about Prince. I watched this Documentary with my sister and I was pissed because MJ was dead for two months and now I see an artist who could play like every instrument you know. Well, as a 12 year old die hard MJ Fan I tried my best not to show how much I love Prince publically, 'specially with my sister around. Prince became my secret favourite artist back then.

Years have past and I was on the couch with my mother's boyfriend and we were watching VIVA ( Not sure if you know this channel, I guess it's a german channel?) Anyways, they used to show music Videos and on that day they showed Purple Rain, the whole freakin' Song! From the first second to the last I had goosebumps. It was the first time I wanted to play guitar myself, that guitarsolo is everything. I couldn't let it be a secret no more, I had to tell everyone in my Family what I have just witnessed, it was magical.

BUT, the moment I truly fell in love with this artist and his music was some years after that. It wasn't the easiest time of my life, I have to say that I have aspergers and when I graduadet from school I had nothing, like my rythm was gone. I suffered from depression and to this day I am not able to go to work because of my anxiety. So back in 2015, I had to make a stupid programm while I was suffering from depression, it was hard for me to get up. And I would've stayed in bed, if not for that one Song on my playlist. And that Song was Purple Rain. This Song was the reason for me to get up and go to that Programm. I owe this to Prince, he saved my life. I will always be thankful for that. It was like something in his voice that was sort of healing, I can't really describe it.

Last year, I was at my grandma's and a week before he died, we heard about this emergency landing, and I was like: "Good lord, please don't take Prince away, the world is not ready for that." Six days later, I visited my Grandma again, just to hear the news that Prince died. I was numb, like everytime I read his name my brain shut down, it was like an error in my head. It hit me the nixt day and when I heard Kiss, I cried like a Baby man. I suffered a big deal when my hero died, but his magic worked again and his music helps me again whenever I'm feeling down. I will never ever forget him and I will always love my little Prince.

So, thank you Prince for saving my life, thank you for you music. I love you. R.I.P

Thank you for sharing your story with us here. Prince's music has touched all of us in some way. His music is the soundtrack to my life as I became a fan back when Controversy was released way back in the day and have been a fan of his music ever since. He (his music) was there for me at every stage of my life, be it the good times or the bad times, I knew that I could count on Prince to be at my side. His music has taken on a deeper meaning for me now that he is gone. But, he left behind a beautiful musical legacy for all to enjoy.

I suffered from agoraphobia for some years, but now I am recovering. One of the things that helped me most were some free Barry Mc Donagh´s videos from his Youtube Channel. If you want to talk more about anxiety, please message me (I m not related to Barry and it´s not an advertising smile )

.

And it´s always great to see new members and fans here smile
