Prince and Aspirin/Wine; possible suicide attempts, accidental od, etc...?

I've been reading Mayte's book and she mentions the aspirin and alcohol incident of 1996, but she also said that she knew he'd been doing the aspirin and alcohol thing again at some point because she saw them left together. Prior to telling us about all that, she said that he called her one day and she sensed that something was wrong/off with him and he said he was just "sick" and he "had a migraine", but Mayte knew better than that. She was seriously worried about him, so she and Henna headed over to Paisley. At that point, she leaves Henna there with him at Prince's request for a while. That "off" thing happened on more than one occasion.

So, my question is; WHAT WAS HE DOING WITH THE ASPIRIN AND WINE??? WHY DID HE ACT SO OFF AND "LOOPY" EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND NOT WANT MAYTE AROUND FOR IT?

Were those suicide attempts? Was he super depressed?

.
We used to take some aspirin if we'd been drinking too much wine. It prevented the dreaded hangover headache -- but sometimes you got sick anyway.
I don't think it would take much wine to be "too much" for someone P's size.
I highly doubt he was trying to suicide. He was a social drinker who probably used it as a relaxant.
No big deal.
It was only a panic due to who he was.
.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Whenever I drink champagne I pop some Advil right before so I don’t get awful headaches.

Aspirin combined with wine has a chemical reaction and turns to hydroxyphentamine. It is a well known drug of choice in certain circles. Mostly among musicians recovering from heroin addiction.

I made that up. I have no idea.

My very own personal opinion is that he struggled with bouts of depression through the years.

I tend to believe the "Aspirin and wine" explanation was a lie to cover for something else.

Drinking wine to take the edge off and taking an aspirin to get rid of his aches and pains? Have you ever talked to a person who's been drinking wine? Do they sound loopy after drinking a few? I guess I would put the "loopy" with the "wine" and put the aspirin in the category that most people take aspirin for. JMO.

i think the whole drug thing was a cover for something the pills left behind and all that for some reason i dont beleive prince was a drug head .maybe what anna garcia said was true and he couldnt deal with losing his memory being he relied on it so much for his musicianship that he took his o wn life.. i also believe that kirk really knows the truth and wont tell what he knows..

I like Mayte, she seems great, really down to earth, and I don't think asking that would make her feel too good. She already said she didn't know what to think of it in the book. I don't want her to dislike me for asking her - kind of bold don't you think?

Not specifically you AnonymousFan but I find it odd/amusing sometimes when people say Mayte (and others) are 'down to earth." Of course she is, she/they're broke...for years.

Look its all spelled out in her book even her role in it. I find it absolutely bizarre she found no curiousity to find out what was going on with her husband even when she's holding it in her hands she showed absolutely no interest in knowing. I just can't, ever.

I am on topic!!! And I'm talking about that particular incident written about in the book in detail, which I've read in full. And that's my opinion which I've stated then and haven't changed now. Toughen up.

No. It was the sound of my mocking/joking how others yelled 'stay on topic' going over your head as a simple joke.
