Art Official Age - Artificial Age?

When you listen to the song "Art Official Age" or simply say the words - doesn't it sound like "Artificial Age" to you? Maybe I'm a bit slow on finding this out - but today I just noticed!

It's like the song "Elixer", it sounds like Prince and Valentine are singing "He licks her..."

Prince always liked a bit of wordplay. Annie Christian and Anna Stesia are the first two that come to mind.

Yes, it's an intentional play on words.

Oh god..... I just realized Annie Christian = Anti Christ. And he even says it right after. I always thought he was just saying Annie Christ. duh

Prince was quite the clever fella when it came to words/word play. He seemed to enjoy double entendre's aa well wink

Yep, the "Hi yo Silver, it's the Bone Ranger" line in 18 & Over is worthy of Oscar Wilde... lol

I doubt they were the first to come up with that play on words, but they had an album out around 2000 called Art Official Intelligence.

AOA: Yes, that was on purpose

"Elixer": P very clearly sings "yes he does" in the song... so, yes. They're saying..

Elixer

Elixer

He licks her

Thus the misspelling of the word "Elixir"

.

Sex Shooter is another one (like a "six shooter" gun, "shooting off in your direction".)

He obviously had a whole lot of these and he was fascinated by language. Not surprising for such a poet like songwriter.
