Very cool to read! And so much that is similar to my perspective including the puzzling disappointment of my initial listens to Lovesexy. But I really got into parts of his later output in the following decade which seemed to throw many off.

I love the "Prince's songs...aren't flexible, physical things; they're vast immovable objects that don't leave much room...they're there to admire ". And also "watching Prince was like seeing God's love"❤️️

That felt very soothing to read..thanks Latin

The best Prince shows were transcendent like that, Daniel says.

“He would make it a spiritual moment, and I think he knew that was the most powerful thing he could do.

At the end of the show, it would get to a more spiritual place, and everyone in the room could feel it.

To him, it was all about God and love.

I don’t know how you argue with that.”

Beautiful article and tribute! LOve this part:

'But I did get to see the show from 15 feet from the stage, and it was like watching God’s love.” So, so true!!

Spoon is a great band, and Prince's influence is apparent on several of their records. Coincidentally - I saw them live for the first time in years just last night!

Those two sentences jumped out at me as well, especially "vast immovable objects ... to admire". This is first time I've heard anybody put into words how I feel about his music. One of my favorite songs is Nothing Compares to You and nobody can sing it like he does.
