Interview with the director of Little Red Corvette

The Behind-The-Scenes Story Of Prince’s ‘Little Red Corvette’ Video

Posted onJULY 18, 2017

By 1983, Prince had released five albums. The first four — For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy — all performed well. (Prince and Controversy were both certified platinum; “I Wanna Be Your Lover” off Prince hit number 11 on Billboard’s charts.) But it was 1999 that put Prince in front of a wider audience with massive radio airplay.

I wonder if there was any footage of Prince and Vanity in a red corvette...perhaps a rehearsal type thing before they decided to scrap the idea

That's a great article. Having Vanity co-star in the video would've changed the complexion of the video significantly and maybe had an interesting impact on Prince's image. I think I would've like it, but ... considering the success of the video and Prince's career subsequently, I think the video turned out great.

Now for my issue, why is the entire article copied and pasted on to the Org? It's copyright infringement. And on top of that, the link offered doesn't even go back to the original publication, but instead it goes to a different website that also seems to have done a copy and paste job.

PLEASE, please reduce the original post down to quoting 2 paragraphs or so and link to the original article. I've written for online publications, and the couple of hundred visits from a fan website like the Org can actually be significant enough to weigh in a decision to write about the subject matter again or to invite the writer to contribute again. If we want more good reporting on Prince and his legacy, let's support the journalism rather than bootlegging it.

Reciprocity

Never ever heard any of this. It is great finding out these things. I like how they said Prince was eccentric heart He was consistent throughout his life.

That is what a genius is made of I guess.

Vanity was there- never knew that-

The tidbits about the other vids too.

Prince was a man on fire back then.

Great article, I would like to see the video of Prince and Vanity, that they could sell.

heart love It was love at first sight. I remember seeing this video for the first time and running to tell my best friend who was in the living room to get in my room ASAP because she needed to come see this guy on TV! We became fans instentanously. Then Nasty Girls took off in our neck of the woods and we stared to hear about Prince and Vanity. Our pre-teens hearts soared. I would have given almost anything to have seen two of my favorite people to walk the planet in this video. Can you imagine Prince and Vanity in a video...?? That would have been too hot to handle.. blowup

Whoever put the blog together is just trying to get all the articles on one page. I find it odd that this is a concern on site that does nothing but promote boots.

Thank you. I feel a bit awkward pointing it out, so I appreciate the follow up. And the article really is good, so I hope people still read it.

Great article with some information I had never seen before. I like that the director mentions Prince letting his guard down after awhile. Prince seemed to

The boots promotion has gotten out of hand. But not copy and pasting whole articles is within the spirit of some aspects of the Org. You can't post a Prince video from YouTube here or how to download a bootleg, but you can discuss the video or boot. It's similar with articles. You can't bootleg an article and paste it here, but you can discuss the article. The analogy isn't perfect, but the idea is that people shouldn't have their intellectual property stolen.
.
Because Prince had the money and lawyers, he basically forced the Org to strictly protect his copyrights. Yet people go around ripping off the copyrighted material of much less powerful magazine writers and reporters. That upsets me. We gotta do right by the little (and medium sized) person, not just buckle to the bullying tactics of the powerful. Btw, I don't blame the Org moderators. They try to address this issue I've noticed.

.
On a slightly different note, it's bittersweet that we get so many excellent articles now that's he passed away, much more than when he was alive.

This is kind of irrelevant, but I've noticed something when watching through these official Prince videos on youtube: Lisa rarely got more than one close-up shot per video (there are obvious exceptions), but whenever she pops up, it's almost always her singing the title of the song during the last chorus. It happens in LRC, and I noticed it in Controversy and now Raspberry Beret too.

Here it the problem a lot of articles disappear from the net. Not so much from the blogs and putting the whole artilce here makes a good store house for information. No one is trying to steal anything.
