Head - Longer Version??

So... I did search before posting and didn't see anything similar. I'm certain I'm wrong about that, so please don't haze me too much for not finding it.

.

Anyway, reading a February 1981 article, Prince states: ’Head’ was a lot longer,” he answers. “When I first cut it, it went on and on. See, well,” he proceeds, laughing and then stopping himself. “I was trying to take a real life experience—there are parts of the longer version that are sometimes shocking to me.

.

Has this been discussed previously? Link if so, please. Again, I could not find.

.

And the real pipe dream; does this longer version exist anywhere?

Can you point to the 1981 article from which the quotation comes, please?

Sorry to jump in, but

I remember reading this ages ago and hoping it would materialise. The thing is, it could be Prince talking bollocks.

Longer alternate mixes of most of his discography could be created from the source material. Almost everything has been edited in some sense. It needn't be limited to discussing an individual track unless it concerns a rare or recently circulating outtake.

February 19, 1981 Rolling Stone mag interview: Will the Little Girls Understand?

he's talking about the Dirty Mind music and the WB did ask him change anything and he was grateful for that... I don't have that quote in this, unless the one I'm currently reading is edited
