Computer Blue help

First, yes I did search for this topic already, but I could only find other aspects of the song addressed.

My question is, isn't there a studio version of Computer Blue where Prince sings "somebody please please tell me what the FUCK is wrong!" I feel like it is a short edit of the song, but really the only remarkable thing compared to other versions, was that lyric change in the early part of the song. I do not have "The Work" set, so it may be on there. Unless I have imagined the whole thing

Just had a quick check as I remember similarly. There is a version with "fuck" on it on Work It 2.0, it's labelled Computer Blue #3 and is over twelve minutes long. It's clearly a different take from the one we're used to though as the tempo is noticeably slower. Quite an interesting version actually although I'm a bit confused as like you I thought I remembered there being a version much closer sounding to the original (and shorter) but with "fuck" instead, not quite sure if that actually exists now... hmmm

Okay, I hadn't gone to the trouble to track it down in my files, but I definitely remembered him saying it in some version.

I'm sure it's on the computer blue ep. There's about 5 different versions of that song. In one of them he does use that word.

Yea, there are a few different recordings of that song. The band version, and Prince flying solo which is the one we know more. I wasn't really looking for 'fuck' on the PR vault stuff anyway. I suppose they found the best version for their purposes.

PS I should mention there is one version I really dig. I think it came out just a few years ago (at least that's when I found it). It was a lot funkier. It was still the rock song we know, but there was something about really funky in the keyboards or bass. It was perhaps an existing part that wasn't as much at the forefront before, or completely mixed out all together in the version we know.

It's not the version on 30 Years of Unreleased Funk listed as "previously uncirculating", either. That is a really shitty version as far as quality.
