Prince History: The 31st anniversary of "Under the Cherry Moon"

Today is the 31st anniversary of "Under the Cherry Moon".

Check out what Paisley Park posted to commemorate the anniversary:

I remember winning tickets to see the movie, but the premiere was at a theater way across town. Add to the fact that my friend couldn't find her car keys. Eventually we got there, and I think we came in somewhere between "Anotherlover" and "Kiss". I had no perspective on what any of it was about, but it was all still great fun.

"...shot in full color...". Nice to see confirmation on that. Would be cool if they ever released it that way as a bonus disc.

Cavallo, Ruffalo, & Fargnoli confirmed that long ago. Prince originally wanted to film it in B&W, but they convinced him to at least do it in color, and they could alter it later on if he still wanted it in B&W. There are a lot of movie stills that are color.

Search the Org for the movie. There are some color photos of the costumes, like Prince in gold in "Mirror mirror" scene, plus Mary's birthday party dress, etc etc. It's amazing to see them in color. I feel like a lot of the glamour of an old movie was lost with the B&W treatment, and we missed the wonderful costumes in color.
