But YOUTUBE was not offering artist any money at all when it first started and what they offer now is not much. The invention of YOUTUBE did not help music sales. In addtion, you could always find stuff if you looked so he was never completly gone from YOUTUBE. I suspect he had a dollar figure and Goggle was not going to meet his price.

You all always repeat on this forum 'Yotube is not paying,Spotify is not paying'. There are local bands in my country that are buying their houses and paying the rent with their youtube views. Imagine artists like Prince who can easily get 100m views, okay he won't make 10m dollars from youtube but he could still make decent money. It's better than not money at all, and videos are promo for the album/new music/tour etc.

Prince was delusional about this and his fans too. Look at Madonna, U2, Paul McCartney, look at any legend, their music is available everywhere and they are selling stadiums/arenas around the world.

If Hit N Run albums had music videos on youtube, singles on spotify, i am sure the albums would be Top 10 like Art Official Age at least. Those albums didn't even touch the Top 40.

[Edited 7/7/17 11:27am]

You did not take the time to read what I typed because you want to be right.

1) When YOUTUBE first started they were not paying.

2) It is obvious that when they started paying it was not an amount that Prince was happy with. This is the same guy that wanted a million from Guitar Player video game. Said I-Tunes compensation was a joke. He had some dollar figure fixed in his mind.

3) Some bank in your country I doubt has the living expenses has Prince had. Nothing to really compare in that department.

4) He did not need 10 million from YOUTUBE if he was getting 1 million a show and could sell the Oracle arean at insane ticket prices to pluck out some tunes on a Piano.

5) He was starting to sell Hit and Run peer to peer so we have no idea what would have happend with that project and we have no idea how his health and dealings with WB effected the promotion of his last projects. He was sitting on 40 mill in real estate and their was money in NPG LLC so his business were not hurting for cash.

6) If you ask for pennies you get pennies if you ask for dollars you get dollars.

Wonder if this is to help promote the PR DELUXE... Looks like it will already fall off most TOP 40 charts in it's second week...

This is not the music industry some of us grew up with.
I've never seen so much "greatest hits" and catalogue releases on the Billboard.
To me it means two things: music is not regarded the way it used to be, and the sales figures are pretty poor by yesterday's standards, but we all know that.

It is without a doubt a part of the box promotion: only the PR videos have been published.

I have a hard time believing a whole crew was set up just to film one song.
Is it possible that other full, professionally shot PR Tour concerts exist?

You guys know that these music videos were made to be shown on 1980s TV, right? If so, then the video master tapes would have been rendered at 480p, so what's with all this complaining?

I thought it was common knowledge that they do? Someone (Susan Rogers???) said that he had most of his concerts filmed I think.

From Rolling Stone (May 2016):

According to past Paisley Park employees, thousands of hours of unheard live and studio material still reside in that locked room, along with a similar amount of performance footage. Scott LeGere, a former staffer, recalls stepping into the "pre-vault" – a small, foyer-like room that lead to the archive – and finding the floor covered with tape reels, which meant the main vault was full a decade ago

I wonder if Grundman had something to do with it.

Anyway, great news!

...but it's mostly 480p. Oh well, it's not Prince fault if he triumphed in these times.
BTW, Syracuse by overlooked by Bernie sounds awesome.
When you know how to tweak a compressor/expander/de-esser/enhancer, it sounds loud AND you have dynamics.

So, if I'm not mistaken, that means I can do this without being snipped :

I'll take this as a yes to my previous question but now I have a new one. Are we limited to only posting videos from the "official" page? Or can I (yes damn it...WE) get the HatrinaHaterwitz Prince.org Prince party of my dreams going? I'm going to need an answer quickly because I'm ready to go, RIGHT NOW!!!

I know the Miami show was professionally shot with multiple cameras, because they showed 1/2 of it at Celebration this year. Too bad that one didn't get released on the Purple Rain reissue.

I am sure most of you know what I am posting about already but for those few that dont read on. When I was at Paisley Park on the tour just a few days ago we were in the media room. This is an office where Prince did all of his video editing. I was listening to the tour guide and my back leaned up against the wall. What was wierd was that the wall was soft not hard with what felt like a few beams of wood supporting foam over it. But from a distance it looked like a wall. Then the guide described how when they were going through Paisley Park after his death they found this secret wall and it went all the way behind the other walls. In it were VHS and betamax and other recordings of many of his live performances. They quickly took all of them and digitized them and started archiving them. The staff at the park claimed it was floor to ceiling tapes and tapes. So I am sure we will start seeing more and more of these shows as time goes on. Just wanted to share

I would be surprised if every single one of the aforementioned tapes were professionally shot, and by that I mean from several angles/cameras. I don't think it would have been sustainable both in terms of logistics and money.

But maybe PR made so much money and the tour was so massive that Prince had the budget to film more than one PR show (if not all) with multiple cameras. I just don't believe that's the case for every one of his performances. Otherwise SOTT would not have been remade in PP, and we would have more than one Lovesexy show (but in this case, different rules apply, as it was a live broadcasting).

I think it's fair to assume that most of them are just made of a single camera filming the stage, with maybe, maybe another one doing close shots. Time will tell how many "fully formed" filmed performances exist.
