TGE vinyl vs cd

I'd like to know if vinyl version of The Gold Experience is different to cd version in terms of mastering. TGE is probably the first really loud Prince album and it's clipping all over the whole record. As much as I love this album, it's sometimes painful to listen to it on headphones and I'd love to have better sounding version (if it exists). I believe they were still using different masters for vinyl/cd back in the nineties, so I assume it should sound better but I couldn't find any info on this. Does anybody know?

The vinyl uses the same master as the CD. Therefore, you won't find that much of a difference in terms of sound. IMO, with regards to the Prince vinyl I own, I feel that Graffiti Bridge was the last time there was a noticeable difference in sound on the vinyl compared to the CD.

The vinyl edition of TGE is The Bomb! I prefer it to the cd edition by a mile. Besides, it is really, really beautiful to look at, and to feel. If you can, get it!

Respectfully disagree. The recent vinyl reissues of his albums up to SOTT in most cases are vastly superior to their cd counterparts.

I think he thought you meant that even the reissues weren't noticably different, and that everything after 1990 is pretty much the same if you get what I'm saying lol.
