I can't think of a single album I own across ALL genres that doesn't have at least one song that I either don't enjoy or really downright hate. And Prince is no exception. "Sign 'O' The Times" and "Purple Rain" come very very close to being "all killer no filler", but I'm not really a fan of "If Eye Was Ur Girlfriend" or "The Beautiful Ones" from those respective albums.

In my opinion they are:
• Christopher Tracy's Parade
• New Position
• I Wonder U
• Life Can Be So Nice
• Venus De Milo
• Do U Lie?

That entire album is a masterpiece from start to finish. When I was a kid and just bought the cassette (remember those?) I would skip Venus De Milo because I didn't get it. But now that I am older I see its necessity. Total classic = Parade.
How DARE u.

It as Parade that absolutely did it for ne with prince. I was already obsessed by the previous two albums but when I heard parade you could just see n hear how limitless his talent was. Also visually it was here you could see he could physically seem to metamorphosise into whatever ever he wanted to be. I f**kin loved his face in the black circle on the dust cover

FOR YOU through SIGN O' THE TIMES.

.

an impressive, amazing, unmatched 10-year streak

where every album somehow improved on its predecessor

or maintained the high level of excellence.

.

the 1st "subpar" track was that "shockadelica" b-side.

starting there, the brilliance was less frequent & less remarkable.

eek eek What the hell? Shockadelica is masterpiece of a song.

Sorry, but I'm sure you hate songs that I love. Although, upon re-listening to it, I'd like to take "Do U Lie?" and "New Position" off the list. I still don't like the rest though.

Definitely. I've been a fan since the "Year 1999" album. When I heard "My Little Red Corvette", I was hooked. After that I bought all his singles for my collection. "I'm Delirious", "When Doves Cry Out", "Let's All Get Crazy", "Purple Rainfall", "Raspberry Chapeau", "Pop Art Life", "Signs Of Our Times", "U Have The Looks", "Alphabetical Street"... even "Batdancing" is awesome.

.

So yeah, I'm a huge fan. Maybe one of the biggest fans on the Org.

Eh, it's called Keep Bustin', you're getting it mixed up with the movie it's off which is called Batdance. A common mistake in fairness.

You call yourself a huge fan and you don't even have "South Canada" from Crossing the Flat Earth in 24 Hours.

I beg to differ. I like 98% of his stuff. It just so happens that Parade has a lot of the songs that I don't like. Although I suppose I will never be considered a true fan by your metrics.

Critically and personally Sign o the Times. Purple Rain is solid.

Dirty Mind is my most played whereas I'd say Lovesexy and Parade are my favourites.

But Sign o the Times was his best piece of work.

We March. It has "skip me please" sign over.

'Now'. That was always awful too. The invention of the CD really caused some horrible bloated albums. I'm glad in the last decade he cut that back and we got some solid, shorter albums with more focus.

It's not too late. I suggest a prescription of 'Parade', go to bed, no distractions, headphones on nightly for a full week.

A "true fan" in my eyes is someone to treat with pity. I mean seriously who likes just one thing that much? Life's a rainbow, it'd be a waste to just look at the purple all the time.

RODSERLING

Let's face it, Purple RAIN is by far the only Prince album with no clunkers. Every tracks could have been released as a single. That's the reason why it had so much success.

And the reason why the following albums failed to approach the sales of Purple Rain, because it contained so much clunkers.
