Rare Sought-After European Collectors' Items

As all collector's know there are many USA and Japanese awesome collector's items, but are there any UK or European items that the world outside of Europe find exciting or of huge interest?

For example...

Wasn't Girls And Boys only released in Europe other than a solitary USA promo sleeveless 7inch?

Does this then make the UK and European versions sought after by collectors?

Similarly the commerial 12inch of Money Don't Matter 2Nite was only released in Europe and the full picture sleeve version of the Diamonds And Pearls CD single was only released in Europe and the UK had the cut off sleeve to show the hologram disc.

So what has come out of the UK and Europe that got non-Europeans excited?

lol

Gotta Stop (messin' about) singles

German "Partyman" 12" single for the long stroke of "Feel U Up"

The CD single for "The holy river" for "On sale now"

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I answered way too fast. I thought of more:

Sexy dancer (long version) UK 12"

The U.K. Promo for "Pope" and "Pink cashmere" 12" mixes.

The extended version and bonus beats for "Beautiful" on the U.K. 12".

20Ten (the whole CD)
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Was 20Ten not released at all outside the UK?

That's really interesting as those would be considered very average in Europe as they were readily available. I even bought the French 7inch for Paisley Park just because it had a totally different picture sleeve.

Gotta Stop has always been hard to find even from when it was released! From the two 7inch singles and two 12inch singles released, I am still missing one of the black-and-white editions.

Again, German Partyman and Holy River CD, I'd always seen around.

It's interesting how product can be so hard to get when you are not in that territory.

Yes, with some European newspapers/magazines in Belgium, France and Germany.

I don't know about anywhere else.

I was ecstatic when one day I found the Sexy Dancer 12inch, but that was a very long time ago!

I remember finding the Pope 12inch very easily, but alas I still don't have the Pope Spanish promo CD - but one day IO will I'm sure!

I ended up buying eight versions of TMBGITW to get the different remixes and picture sleeves.

I think my favourite is the long gatefold presentation sleeve from the NPG Music Club shop.

I think Insatiable has to be one of my all time favourite non-European releases.

The USA 12inch promo picture sleeve is beautiful and the rare single edit on the USA promo CD is awesome.

ok here's one i wasn't able to solve in 30+ years...

She's always in my hair was on the B-side of Paisley Park (Europe, where i lived)
It was a 'long version' (maxi)

One friend in school lent me an import of Raspberry beret (US?) and on the b-side it had "SAIMH", but... a different -better- maxi version. I recall it being longer and being different mainly on the part where he's screaming and such.

The only problem being... I couldn't find anywhere any info on a different mix for the next 30 years smile

Was it just my imagination?

Really?

There are definitely only two versions of that, the short one and the long one.

Oddly, you've just reminded me of another nice little European exclusive rarity.... the mispress of Paisley Park 12inch single.

The sleeve lists three tracks, but the vinyl included four tracks.

She's Always In My Hair plays twice!

I wonder if you got this slightly mixed up?

SAIMH on the UK 12inch is the short version.

SAIMH on the USA 12inch is the long version.

Sometimes there are too many variations of releases to keep track!!

Forgot about Pop Life 12". The US got a different mix, where as this one was an extended version. None of these were hard to get, but were worth getting.

Me, too. Did you pay an arm and a leg for yours? (I did for mine.)

I'm lucky, I managed to get mine fairly cheap. I think I paid about £15. It's a promo one as well.

Sadly my database records media details and purchase dates and locations but not pricing.

However, I did buy this from a local second hand shop and they never sell anything for more than 5 pounds (or even less) so I would never have paid a large amount for it.

I think my most expensive items are probably the Man O War promo CD and maybe The Pope CD. I think maybe Let's Work 7inch picture sleeve was expensive.

I do remember the Willing and Able USA promo CD with the exclusive single edit was about 50 quid but a lot of that was shipping costs.

I find sometimes pricing is relative to earnings. When I had a paper round as a kid everything was equated to a weekly wage, but these days everything seems quite cheap - in comparison.
