Team bootleg. First, as to "rehash", it's only rehash to you, or someone who has your bootleg collection. For someone else, it's all new. Second, we can't talk of rehash and not bring up "4ever", and "PR Deluxe".

.

I've never bought a bootleg, never had to, and don't undestand why people do. It's all free online - why don't people know this? On the other hand, if someone's putting work in, has a great package, pressed it, and sent it out, I'm not going to pretend it's some huge moral outrage if they make some money off it.

.

I also disagree that the estate is suddenly threatening the livelihood of the bootleggers. At the pace the estate is going, when is releasing new unheard material from the Controversy era going to get done? When would the estate actually say..."next up...The Flesh"? Patience is a virtue, but I'd rather hear that music while I'm still young enough to dance.

Instead of taking care that the musical heritage is safely preserved and can be heard by fans soon, we see legal battles, family feuds, total chaos. So there is only ONE solution - release as much stuff as possible for mega bucks before the estate do sort things out and we then can't make a dime. razz

To me, it is clear that to listen to the music will not cost anything to anyone, all will be downloadable for nothing.

Who will choose to pay will do it just to have the music on factory pressed CDs with professional artwork, for personal collection.

luvsexy4all

tell the estate to release 10 albums at once....if they sell 10,000 each ..thats a quick 100,000 CDs SOLD. its not the same as 20 years ago where each release sells that much..they will have t give the public more options and output

Nice attempt at spin from eye records, but they may as well just tell the truth, they are in it for the money.

Preserving Princes legacy? dont make me laugh. If it was about that they wouldnt take one disc of new material and pad it out with poor quality rehash to make four and maximise profits from the stupid

.

EYE and the other CD bootleggers are doing a better job at preserving Prince's legacy than the people who are forever hoarding the songs to themselves.

.

With future Official vault releases on the eventual horizon, some of the smarter collectors are finally realizing their collections have a shortening window of value. For those that want to capitalize on that, this is their best time. And God bless them for doing so.

Hmyess... But...

How soon will 'the estate' (the heirs) have the house in order after the judge is finished?

This can take years.

Or do we have good infos on a professional company working on catalogueing and preserving them tapes?

of course all are in it for the dough. but eye do a better job them most. As most on here say you have choice with both offical and unoffical. You can get it for free on download or pay and get it with artwork.

The estate and warners can do a better job but refuse to do so as they are both greedy vultures and are not bothered about fans just there own pockets.. Warners give you much of what already got and the estate want more dough for vault stuff and are only interested in taking stuff down eg deliverance. . Warners release of purple rain deluxe was a joke. Where was all associated songs and missing alot of music to do with actual album . No first ave 83 what a mistake. They managed to find some crummy 7 " edits at 20 seconds shorter than album track though. I would rather a blind chimp handle prince releases then warners (master of the 7"edits). when compared to what we could have or thought it would be.. 1 disc of new materail then padded out much like you sare sayings about boots. 4ever was apalling..

IDGAF whos in it for the money, just as long as things get released to be heard. LOL at folks looking for principles in the 'art' of bootlegging. I mean the whole thing is morally unsound from an artists pov, I get that and feel some kind of way about that. But this is the world we live in.

I suppose people would have more respect for Eye if when someone else releases a free bootleg they didn't immediately throw a bunch of filters on it, rehash it with new artwork and some random other tracks and press up a bunch of expensive CD's.

If they only released new stuff they were obviously paying for their statement would hold a bit more weight.

Agreed. I'd rather pay a premium price for ten quality tracks. I have been able to download most of their releases for free though.

Not much more to say here is there? We've told the bootleggers to listen up, so now all we need to do is wait. We've talked sense into them so I fully expect everything to be leaked by the end of August. At least give them a chance, geez. wink

I was mocking here but look what's happened since. Well done thread starter, well done. lol

Lol. Your hat is safe. The bootleggers only released items because they are pissed at EYE. Had nothing to do with generosity.

Absofuckinglutely agree. If they share whatever uncirculating goodies they have, they can no longer feel like Big Important Fans by lording it over the rest of us slobs. I find it kinda gross that nobody can even admit, "yeah, it makes me feel good to tell you that I have xxxxx and I could care less if it would bring joy to fans around the world if I released it; my self-importance wins over love of music any day."

.

Nobody does that. That's BS you made up.

Bart, again U witness you manioulating other people

How could you state "NOBODY"? Do everybody report to you or you are reading mind?

You gave us the most incredible live video of Prince last year with the release of his three 2013 Montreux shows. You gave us "Can I Play With U' which is the best sounding stuff I've ever heard. You are doing a beter job by leaps and bounds than the estate. I hope you guys can get your hands on some rare stuff...hopefully you can contact other engineers like Ian Boxhill that have great Prince music and want the world to hear it. We can not count on the estate as they oversaw a remaster of his biggest selling album that is so poor that it is hard to listen. The vault tracks are in bad shape and I'm not holding out hope for remasters of Around the World In A Day or Sign O The TImes any longer.

I am looking to you all to give us the goods.

I truly don't believe Prince would mind Deliverance as the subject matter was surely more in line with his thinking than are the tracks released on the Vault.

I think Prince would have minded Ian Boxhill getting the money for it.
