who do u think is "milking" Prince's passing??

So many Prince "friends" and "family" have been "milking" the media since Prince died? People who havent been seen or heard ever or for years?!?!

  • Shelia
  • W&L (Revoultion)
  • Mayte
  • His sisters
  • His cousins
  • Susan Rodgers

I have to go with W&L, sorry I don't see it...yes they were his backing band during PR, but he kicked them to the curb 30 years ago! I know, what your going to say about the music they created...but only 3 albums came from and 2 out of 3 flopped. The 94-95 NPG, SOTT/Lovesexy, Musicology bands were better!

  • All of the musicians are exploiting him but I guess he exploited them as well so it seems fair. They just need to be accurate and not forgot to point out specifically what exactly made him a genius in the first place (other than statements about how he pushed them to be great...which to me, is less of an indication of genius as it is an indication of his bandleading skills). i get real annoyed when I read hyperbolic general statements about his talents and then no specifics about his creative input, right before they go into the ways in which they contribute.. More balance please.

  • His sisters.. I don't know. They are in charge of his estate so I guess they would have to.

  • Cousins--don't know

  • Susan--she talked about him before he died so no more exploitation than usual.

  • Mayte--yes, I think so unfortunately but it doesn't mean she is lying in her accounts.

if we're talking completely about anyone who's making a dollar, just about all of them. Some of them deserve it,(If you can say such a thing) some of them don't but it's going to happen with Prince just like it happens with any other star.

his bandmates had to work harder than they ever worked before or since most likely, so that's why I think they really deserve anything they can get, they also had a hand in the creative process, basslines, keyboard riffs etc.., all many credited to Prince were created by the musicians, just the way it is in that business, they sign a lot of shit away. Springsteen's music wouldn't be the same if it was just him and his guitar, but he gets all songwriting credits. Is it right? I don't know, but he pays them well from what I hear.

the family? I don't know, I tend to think they don't deserve shit but it's not really any of my business, it's family and legal so it's gonna happen that way.

All I ask the bandmates to do is as they inform people of what they contributed that they also don't take for granted that new fans would know what he himself did on his songs and forget to give us the tidbits on his little contributions.... BE specific folks about what he did do and don't forget that that control freak workaholic did a lot more than just write some melodies and lyrics...LOL.

Sheila I thought came nearest to exploitation with the symbol t shirts. But we don't know if she had estate permission or the proceeds were for charity. That being said, I hope she doesn't turn into a tribute act, she has too much musical heritage for that. The Revolution are in demand, let's face it fans want to see them live. I don't have a problem with Maytes book, it's her story too and was done tastefully. I'm sure if any band/family member, ex wife/girlfriend wrote books most fams wouldn't be able to get enough. I have no problem with any of it as long as its done with respect.

Wendy and Lisa could milk me any day. Cor, not half a milk either, I'm talking interplanetary Star Trek IV levels of whale milk.

Milk the size of the conceptual boundaries of the Universe and beyond.

Inner Milk. Outer Milk. Milk in five dimensions.

Strawberry milk, other flavoured milk.

Milk in circles, milk in gloves, milk in your hair

Reindeer milk, milk in space, milk in Chelmsford, milk in your wall

Milk on the horizon, milk in milk

All of the milk.

I watched School of Rock yesterday.

Milk next to a shrew, milk on top of a penny, milk next to a house, some milk on paper, milk in your eyes, car milk, window milk, even milk with chicken milk

anyway, family is about the most useless way to say anyone "deserved" something, people inherit shit they didn't work for, don't have the character to know what to do with and often just waste it, but, that's the way it goes, you know blood thicker than water. The ex-wives, usually pretty useless too, i mean they did get divorced and even when married, they weren't all that useful, at least mayte worked hard for the stage show, the other one, I don't know what she did to be useful outside of in the bedroom. The bandmembers who helped that man, all of them, who had to take his shit, they deserve more than anyone to make some cash. As much as I never did think the revolution was up to his level as musicians on the whole, they still deserve whatever they can get. the other musicians do too, but none of the later musicians had to have faith in the guy, he was just a boss to them.

I'd blast them all off to Cygnus Alpha at enough rate their radio messages would be received on Earth at approximately the same time.

I can easily see which of his associates and protégés are not, and who is.
It's not rocket science, all it takes is the ability to see it.
And give people more than one chance.

Oh christ. So my theory is that WOmen who were close to Prince get 'special treament' from supposed fans, and so it's interesting that this entire list is women. Most everyone on this list is uniquely qualified to talk about Prince. And if you are going to pick on W+L, that's pretty rich considering that their bandmates have been just as vocal as they are.

Sit down and shut up, and stop getting your panties in roil cause Women have something to say about Prince.

And you know who's milking Prince's passing? Lawyers! That's who.

Must have my periods reversed.
Anyway, I have nothing about squeezing P's tits if this means we have a proper, careful legend building over the next few years, because the way the Estate, Warner, and who knows what laywers are headed, there ain't gonna be much cream in their coffee.
