Who designed the original PR album art?

I always liked the scattered flowers theme on the Purple Rain Album cover, I know certain things were borrowed from the movie but who designed the look of the whole album?

Laura Lipuma. Remember Prince was a control freak so he came up with most of the ideas. Laura just enhanced everything http://www.eurweb.com/201...s-speaks/#

Crazy idea: how about reading the credits on the album?

Maybe you still do not understand what a non-pro forum on internet is used for.

Have fun.

So he was a control freak because he wanted to design the cover. I wonder if that would apply to a group like Led Zepplin.

I must be a control freak too, i always pick what music i want to buy and i never let someone else pick it for me. How dare Prince design his own albums covers. lol

Well I don't have the album cover anymore ( Think I purchased the album in cassette form back in the day ) and I wanted to know if there was a story to the whole look of the album.

Don't worry TXfan this is still meant to be a Prince forum. Some people would rather reply and be rude than just ignoring a certain thread.

So you didn't bother to check PrinceVault of Discogs etc. Didn't even bother to google "Purple Rain cover design" which would give you http://www.cleveland.com/...urple.html . You've had this question burning inside you for decades, and yet the slightest bit of research is too much effort?

Man, what's your deal? No, I haven't googled it. I figured this would be the place to ask such a question. I've never been to discogs before and when I really wanted to know it was in the 80's,before the internet. Since then other shit like getting married, having kids, and a fucking mortgage has happened so I Haven't really thought about it again until I pre ordered the PR deluxe and saw the albulm cover again. Just thought somebody would know a little more about it here, where all things Prince are discussed.

Cut it out. People come here to discuss things, connect with other Prince fans. If everyone just researched everthing what really would be the point of a Prince.org?

This persons question is not hurting you, just pass over a thread that irks you. Seriously.
