You can't undo the damage, but perhaps some eq-ing can make it more tolerable to listen to, at least.

I added some EQ on the very-highs and bass, along with some very short-reflective stereo reverb. Sounds decent enough.

Quick listen:

- The Feb 1985 one is not that great, an often really unbalanced mix with Prince's voice too much to the fore, but still is interesting.

I agree, but I must say; Eric is on top of his game in this show!

I sometimes wonder if people close to the estate or whoever is leaking this thing. I mean, you can't put everything on a CD and sell it. So, it serves a better interest to leak other stuff around the time of Purple Rain to not only get some music out, but moreso to make that sacrifice of vault material without a price tag, to keep the interest of Purple Rain Deluxe going. Like creating momentum and hoping for good inertia to carry sales along for a while. It's one theory, but that specific stuff leaking now? More than a coinky dink.

.

Seriously? First it was Prince, now his estate? Does this BS never stop?

God, you're as easy to trigger as Trump. I said, if you'd read fully instead of jumping to type and try to correct someone on the internet, "I sometimes wonder if..." I never said it was a fact, or that my theory was true. I was conjecture, an idea. You've heard of those, right? Free thought. It's an amazing thing, Bart. Try it sometime.

I figure its still Prince releasing them.

I've heard it and it's listenable, but nowhere near a perfect soundboard.

I love and appreciate these releases. But, the "Soundboard" term is being totally overused now. A lot of songs on this release are not "Soundboard'. Better quality than before, but not Soundboard.

I heard the Santa Monica benefit concert. It sounds really good to me. I like the piano intro on When Doves Cry. What do U think about it? Sound quality, set list...?

What I'm saying is I don't believe every bootleg that says "Soundboard" is soundboard. Either the label is being dishonest or incorrect about the source of the audio. Being an Audio Engineer, I can tell the difference between a Soundboard source Audio and Fan Recorded with Noise reduction in post-production.

The Benefit Show doesn't sound like Soundboard sourced audio, as it's labeled.

I've heard similar soundboard shows. Example: Atlanta '85.

The real Eye Records versions (lossless rip) is out there now.

Boston Metro show is much better than the previously circulating version, not much difference with Rainmaker.

Yes it does. Not the best mix, but it's soundboard.
The levels of the audience cheers should put the debate to rest.

I like the Linndrum jam, I wonder what one earth the purpose of it is? I wonder are there literally a thousand hours of stuff like this in the vault as he slowly worked songs out? you could probably use it to heavily criticise Prince as well though, 'all his songs are just the same bloody beat!'

As I listen to the LinnDrum jam, I question the authenticity. I'm not saying that it is not Prince, I'm saying I don't hear anything that confirms for me that it is Prince. Could Lisa be playing the keys?

I've seen the date and the credits. It's my ears that aren't sure.

Do we have any confirmation beyond the credits?

To be clear: I'm NOT saying this isn't Prince, merely seeking confirmation.

It was circulating in a fourm before eye got a hold of it. A small number of people had it. Its a solo prince recording. Its 100 percent him playing. If that helps.

Fuck, we're getting old. I remember looking at these people collecting Beatles stuff at fairs and such back in the nineties. Grey hair and wrinkles....that is becoming us now, soon.

Still. It is good to find "new" stuff from Prince every now and then. I hope to hear it.

No shade...but I know a lot of that Beatles stuff PALES in comparison to the P stuff. LOL they could have 40 minutes of John and Paul eating food and it would sell.

I think you're missing a specific word here. Soundboard quality.

Previously one would get excited when it was a soundboard recording.
Now, that tag gets used too often and in many instances the quality of the recordings sound anything but soundboard like.

Really?!?!?!?

I love the concert, but according to the first FLAC version leaked I find the recording somewhat frustrating to listen with all the sound imperfections (just listen to the beginning of "Pop Life", all seems to crash). An update on what we already have, but not that listenable.
